That post just confirmed my thoughts. Nors is just looking to stir the forum up a little bit.

Monday Night Football! Huge game

Stokin some fires

90's D a tad more dominant stat wise than I thought but did benefit from arguably the greatest offense in the history of modern football....

Dat and Als not fits in our future. Shanle starting again for 5th straight week per BP PC today. We are going bigger - and we are starting to snuff out offenses of late....

McSoup next to get punched square in the face. No more LB's hiding behind players....

So why is Shanle playing? He isn't big. At least according to your definition. Same size as Al.

Nors, the "I told you so" attitude doesn't bother me like it does some of the posters. Mainly because you're often right and you get jumped on everytime you make a prediction.

But to say that the Dallad D in the 90's was statistically better primarily because of our potent offensive attack, is misguided. We had these same conversations at that time. Fact is, most of the pundits at that time didn't give our offense the credit it deserved and claimed it was due to our defense continually giving them the short field, turnovers etc... The same arguement is still being used today when they talk about whether or not the triplets deserved any recognition.

Our offense was great. One of the greatest of all time, IMO. But to think that our defense wasn't stifling, is just nonsense. With Haley practically participating in the opposing team's huddle, one side of the field negated due to Dion's presense, not to mention a guy named Woodson and a swarm of fast moving linebackers creating havoc, that defense was just awesome.

I like where we are heading. And you made the call to a 3-4 way back. Keep the predictions coming. Mainly cause you also predict us to keep improving so I'm right there with you. But don't sell short an absolutely amazing defense for my Boys from the 90s. The bottom line is that the Boys were dominating on both sides of the ball (as well as ST). We beat the tar out of everybody. :)

Don't you know the reason that defense is being maligned is because it was a 4-3?

:wink2:

When you plug them into a 3-4 Defense?

They get broken.

Bones start snapping, hurting, stinging - they just can't take the poundings. They are more used to hiding behind people.

Big Strong, physical backers forward........And the transformation is damn near completed!

Lol...

They are going to have to add a new catagory at the scouting combine. 3-4 LB's and 4-3 LB's.

So, your a 4-3 LB...Too bad, I hear you break a lot...yeah, it sucks, thought I was a 3-4 LB'er...But I lost half a pound last night, so I'm toast.

Yo dude, just got these new spikes, I'm a 1/4 inch taller which means I can ride Superman at 6 flags and I'm gonna make twice as much money because I'm now a 3-4 LB'er...wahoo freaking whooo !!!!

Zach Thomas, Dat, Mr. Singletary, Sam Mills, DD Smith, Tom Jackson...Please report to the broken down 4-3 LB'er line. We have a new college grad there to be your agent, no one else wants you.

Parcells on Shanle over Dat

He's bigger, more physical. Dat is used to hiding behind people and that doesn't work in this defense

He went out and drafted 6-5 252 Ware at OLB

Went out and added 6-5 250 Fujita reducing Als Role.

Bigger is better for our 3-4 defense.

April 11th post below to Dale - Hostile still thinks we are staying in the 4-3!!!!!!!!!!
Yet claims to have predicted 3-4 all alone.

Guy's up there in age but is a legitimate player.

Hos reply:
I don't think we're going to the 3-4. Every move we've made benefits the 4-3 more.

Seems I remember most saying we would play multiple fronts this season just as Parcells said on more than one occasion.

That is exactly what we are seeing despite the fact there are pundits and forum members stating for a fact we are playing a 3-4.

Are we playing more 3-4 than 4-3? I don't know and don't care. I like the fact OCs have to prepare for many combinations of matchups and many schemes. It's one reason our defense is doing so well despite the fact we have some personnel problems.
