What I Don't Understand About Cowboys Fans?

Since you've told me what you don't understand about fans like "ME", I guess I can voice my lack of understanding about the pro JERRY crowd. Let's see..... It's been like nearly 2 decades since we've done anything relevant. Im' soooooo happy about it. I love losing and not winning playoff games.

I love having horrible drafts and trades. It's my dream. That's how I live my life. Losing makes me feel good and even after I've lost, I don't care about getting better, I just want to continue to lose and be happy about it.

The attitude that some fans have after a losing season or continued losing seasons is nauseating. It reminds me of the doofus' group that used to be telling jokes and having fun in the back of the bus after we were just whipped by our rival football high school team. It's pathetic. I will never understand people who are content and happy about the guy who destroyed this team.

Now that's something I don't understand.

I always enjoyed reading you Clove you get it

I enjoy when we win. I don't enjoy when we lose. I watch every game regardless of the score. If you are saying that if we disagree with decisions that Jerry makes we are not fans then that is just dumb.
I guess it's good that he didn't say anything like that then.
The OP was just trying to understand what goes on in some fans' heads.

As for me, these Jerry threads seem like quicksand.

I understand what your saying but thats a horrible parallel. So lets say I'm a catholic and I hate what the priests are doing so Im going to change religions makes no sense. As a Cowboy fan I'm a loyal fan of the team. Now that we have a crappy owner ( not my opinion ) just saying I will root for another team. Thats just plain idiotic. I can root and be loyal and question what the owner does as I'm a fan thats it.

I understand your feelings. I couldn't stand TO after the disrespect he had for the star. Jerry signed him, but I didn't carry my dislike for TO over to the whole Cowboys organization. I don't like Jerry the GM, but he is a good owner. Jerry is one of the best promoters of any sports team. As GM he has made many decisions that I have disagreed with. If the team wins a Super Bowl with him as GM, I will be happy and surprised. I will say that things seem to be going in the right direction with the exception of addressing the trenches as a priority.

I see that the usual torch and pitchfork brigade has arrived, with effects in hand.

There was no Herschel Walker in Miami.

There also happened to be this little thing called the salary cap when he went to Miami.

Little harder to make players believe you'll cut them at a moments notice when there are ramifications that are further reaching then replacing a roster spot.

Good post WG,

I relate that to raising a kid, no matter how many mistakes they may make you still have to provide them with positive encouragement and hope that at some point they see the light. With what Stephen and JG have done this off season, I think that has been the case with the Cowboys.

Excellent analogy and post. Well said!!

Those aren't effects.

You guys are going at it over Jerry Jones. Imagine having had to have been saddled with Bill Bidwill your entire lives.

There......Now does every one feel better? LOL. :)

If the Cowboys were to win the Super Bowl this year, some fans would probably grumble, "Jerry has only won one Super Bowl in the last 16 years."

I agree 100%

Tell you what, how about we win it then whatever opinion someone has it won't really matter.
The point isn't that they'll always be people who ****** & moan, the point is that under current circumstances, *****ing & moaning is justified.
Or do you want another 2 decades of futility before you figure out JJ sux as GM?

Well, as you can see, I've only registered to this board quite recently, however I did lurk as a guest for a considerable amount of time before joining. I'd like to 1st state that I've been a Cowboys fan since I was old enough to understand the game of football. I currently (and always have) lived in the Eastern part of our country. The area I'm in is specifically saturated with Eagles, Steelers, Commanders, Ravens, and Giants fans. All of my close friends are fans of one of these teams (which makes for an entertaining rivalry during the season) and I literally am rarely surrounded by Cowboys fans.

After reading a large amount of the content on this board, I really have one question I'd like to pose to all of the Jerry naysayers: Why are you a fan of the Dallas Cowboys?

The disdain for Jerry that some of the posters on this board exhibit really makes me wonder why you would even want to be a fan of the team? I mean, he's owned the team for over 20 years, and he is clearly going to continue to conduct himself the way that he has up until this point. With that being said, it's safe to say that he is probably the most recognizable individual connected to the organization. If as a fan, you disagree with his actions in general, and who he is as an owner, why wouldn't you just root for a team that operates in a fashion that you do agree with? To me, being a fan in general is about following and cheering for a team that you believe in, and that you want to see be successful. Some of the perpetually negative posters on here make me wonder- do you even enjoy watching the games? Do you cheer when the 'boys win?

Maybe I'm just weird, but it seems odd to me that some of the "fans" on here don't even appear to enjoy being a fan of the Cowboys. And isn't that the whole point? To enjoy the games? To enjoy the different facets of the organization? If I hated Jerry that much I don't think I'd have much fun as a fan.

Sorry if this was too long and drawn out, but I rarely post on message boards and I became quite perplexed after I started following this board and decided to make a thread about it. Thoughts?

I thought you had to be a registered member just to view the threads so it is highly unlikely you can just be a new poster after lurking for a long time.

Nah, you definitely don't have to register to view threads. I viewed without registering for several months.

Naw, I lurked for about 6 years before I registered.

Lemme guess, you're going to say the same thing for the next "n" years or until Jerry Jones steps down.

That would solve everything. I don't think anyone would have a problem with that.

Well, the Cards have won more than one playoff game and made a Super Bowl in the last four years.
