What I Don't Understand About Cowboys Fans?

Kinda twilight zone like. People take things and just run with it and couldn't be further from knowing the facts.
So what you are saying is that this is the real you and that is the fake you?

But didn't I say a fake fan is someone who goes on another forum pretending to be a fan of that team. I didn't say you were a fake Cowboys fan or a fake Iggles fan. I just pointed out that you are one or the other. That is a fake fan.

I don't know about you but as long as a GM publicly says "yep, that's on me", I'm fine with continuing the same failed structure of the last 15 years.

That's my kind of accountability.

I see this meme around by the "realists" quite often.

What is that you are doing to hold Jerry Jones and the Cowboys organization accountable for not meeting up to your standards in the arbitarty time frame you have?

Besides grousing anonymously on a Cowboys message board?

Well, the Cards have won more than one playoff game and made a Super Bowl in the last four years.

One oasis in a sea of misery for as long as I've been a Cards fan. I'll take it Junk, but it's been hell largely rooting for this team. I disagree with completely with Proximo though. My enjoyment of just watching my boys play on Sunday has been well worth it in my life despite Bidwill's ownership.

It is quibbling. But, for clarification, since the 1996 football season ended. 2007 to 2011.

It isn't cherry picked. It is the last time Dallas was relevant in the playoffs. It is a consecutive period of years that Dallas has struggled to be competitive.
I am good at quibbling. For instance the 1996 season ended in 2007? I don't think so.

It is cherry picked because for years around here before 2009 the complaint was only one playoff win in 13 years. That was the win over the Viqueens after the 1996 season. Now, you want to throw that playoff win away so you can say 1 win in 16 years. But by throwing that one away you need it to be 15 years, you show that the sails are being set in another direction, and that you want control of the parameters through false windows. See before the 1996 season was always part of the equation, now you don't want it to be, but at the same time you do want it to be so you can say 16 years.

Let me demonstrate.

1 = 2011
2 = 2010
3 = 2009
4 = 2008
5 = 2007
6 = 2006
7 = 2005
8 = 2004
9 = 2003
10 = 2002
11 = 2001
12 = 2000
13 = 1999
14 = 1998
15 = 1997
16 = 1996

So if you want to say 1 playoff win in 16 years then you are wrong, because there are 2. 1996 and 2009. If you want to elminate that win, then you have to say 15 years.

Not trying to throw dirt on yoru grave, just quibbling better than you.

Typo. 1997-2011

You do like to quibble. I have no idea what was said in 2009 nor do I care.

I care about results. 1 playoff win in 15 years. If 2 in 16 makes you feel better, then by all means, use that measurement.

Bottom line, it is a pretty futile trend that has been ongoing for over a decade.

Maybe all this hand waving makes you feel better about the situation? Seems like a waste of everyone's time to me.

So if you want to say 1 playoff win in 16 years then you are wrong, because there are 2. 1996 and 2009. If you want to elminate that win, then you have to say 15 years.
Thanks for the lesson.....where did I say 1 playoff win in 16 years?

I agree that gets thrown out there a lot and it is wrong. I've tried very hard to say 1 playoff win in 15 years.

I know it was a typo, but when one is being so smug it is fair game to point out when the smugness misses by a decade.

Your welcome for the lesson. You didn't use the exact words 1 win in 16 years but you did say since 1996, which I have already shown you is incorrect. That was the original quibble that apparently has upset you. It was merely a correction of your incorrect data, not an affront to your patriotism for the blue and silver. I think you can relax, and perhaps use the information in the lesson to good use rather than this.

Since the 1996 season is 15 years.

1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

But, hey, you can quibble and distract from the real discussion. Congrats.

Tell you what, why don't you try adding something of value?

I want to see Dallas win and win consistently. I think fixing the front office structure is the best way to do that.

I still don't know why people get bashed for having that opinion around here.

Because it appears as a very weak perception. Let's say Jerry sold the team to another owner like Bum Bright....the owner would bring in a GM to appease those that are hung up on titles, but the owner won't spend the money it takes to compete....has anything been gained other than someone not named Jones holds the GM title?...not to mention no quality GM would work under those conditions......I haven't been happy with a lot of Jerrys moves in the past but I am pleased so far with the progress that I'm seeing with Stephen and JG...I'll stick with what we have.

See, I don't get that either. I'm not hung up on titles. I'm interested in the roles that people play.

Jerry is still the final decision maker when it comes to matters of personnel in Dallas. I would prefer to see someone with a personnel background who works full time in that realm making those decisions.

Not a guy who listens to a committee and makes a decision based upon the most compelling argument.

I know it isn't going to change. Jerry will keep doing what he has been doing. He said as much this year. That doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Can JG and Stephen bring about change? I hope so, but that is a lot to ask a guy who has never spent any time scouting himself and a coach who is still learning on the job.

I've noticed that when you get worked up about anything you start each reply with a laughing icon. How old are you?

More quibbling. You did not say since the 1996 season. You said since 1996.

January 1, 1996 is since 1996. Therefore we have 5 playoff wins including a Super Bowl.

Again, you don't need to get all swole up and affronted. Quibbling over you making an error shouldn't push your manhood panic button.

I think I can safely say that I will never add something of value other than humor, if some value that. I rarely comment on anything. I just felt like pointing out that your comment was wrong.

I should hve known better. You are one of the few here who is insulted by everything. Like the comment about being bashed for you management opinion. Are you so daft that you do not realize you bash others for the exact same thing? He, I proved in this thread that I can provide links. You do it all the time, yet complain when it happens to you.

Go ahead and reply with a Junior High smiley before you respond back all a flutter. I gotta go put some wax on the hearse.

This is such a cop-out excuse for Jerruh and his incompetence.
I lived in NYC when the Giants were putrid, and the league finally forced their owners to hire a competent professional GM, George Young.
He rebuilt that team from scratch, drafted Phil Simms and Lawrence Taylor, hired Ray Perkins/Bill Parcells, and in a few years they were back in the hunt as contenders.
That organization has continued being successful with this latest winning wave coming after they hired Ernie Accorsi, another prominent GM, and now this Jerry Reece guy.
They've left us in the dust, while we scramble for playoff wins, and all some fans can say is..."well, a GM can't do it all"? Really?
Again, Pete Rozelle FORCED the Mara's to hire George Young and it turned that franchise around.
Yes, a GM can make a hell of a lot of diffrence, IF he's competent. And Jerruh is NOT competent.
The results post-HCJJ speak for themselves. Why is that NOT obvious to some? :bang2:

I love that word you used. People keep forgetting what that word means. I know teams will struggle, but can you be competitive at all? If you keep yourself in the playoffs every year, then you have a chance to compete. Be consistent. Most of us are dying to love Jerry, he's a cool guy in his interviews. But I can't like a guy who does nothing but mess up the team I fell in love with.

I certainly agree you haven't added anything of value. I think you're really reaching on the humor front as well.

He'd probably be a Hall of Famer if he'd take a lesson out of the Robert Kraft playbook and take a step back.

Hire qualified people, take a step back and empower your employees to do their job.
