While Dallas is doing good drafting. They need to open up the pockets and start signing freeagents who will get more then the vet minimum. Guys like Wilson and Bush while they look semi decent in practice for a few plays they are what they are in games, None - **'n - Factors.

What we saw from the first quarter on, is the depth on this team is bad. Some of it is rookies and 2nd yr guys getting to know the system. But they need to stop basement bargain shopping for freeagents. The saying you get what you pay for is a prime example for Dallas.

There wasn't really a lot out there this year, but I agree somewhat. Problem is, as soon as we do that, the players get ripped.

Dallas has always made room for cap. There is no cap situation with this team. The make their contracts with this in mind. The Jones' have been telling people this for yrs. But they just think theyre stupid. Take Tyrons contract. They have 30 mil in money they can restructure.

We should with the cuts. I think the Lawrence injury hurts big time too. And ideally if someone does go down, they're stepping in at, say, DT next to Crawford, Melton, and Selvie or Mincey. I think we'll be in better shape come Week 1.

Dallas needs that pass rusher on the weakside. Thats theyre biggest weakness. Lawrence isnt going to do anything this yr. That broken foot ruined his yr. So they need to sign somebody to get back some of that.

Truth be told, the "cap guru" - Stephen Jones, has screwed this team with contracts time after time.

We went to the bargain bin for OL years ago, and now we are doing the same with the DL.

Build through the draft? Not so fast, when we are trading up to get one player.

When this front office understands that this team is more than one player away from legitimately competing in the NFL, and they can focus their efforts on the trenches then maybe the ship will be righted.

I read they have 11mil in space.
they have Dez to sign and Murray if they intend to.
I know that's enough room first year but what about
the following year? just a question

It appears [reportedly] that S.Jones is the reason we're cleaning up the past contract plunders.

This is the main problem with the way that contracts are structured that Stephen is putting together.

When they restructure, they are adding money to the players original signing bonus, which adds more dead money to future years.

Basically they lessen the cap hit for that current year, but the catch is that future years cost more to cut or keep the player.

Dez first yr on his contract will be next yr. in 2016 they have 35mil in caproom as of right now.

It appears that way because they lessen the cap hit for the current year but then it adds more money to future years making those cap hits higher.

Eventually, once you decide to cut ties with the player it counts against cap more than the original deal was set for.

Dallas can does this because they have the money upfront to pay the player, whereas as JAX or CLE isn't going to have that kind of money per se.

Nice and developing thread, gentlemen. I'm learning to more quickly identify a stage of a growth period in development and toning down the emotional outbursts that were once a tendency when watching the tellie.

The main problem is NOT only a new system but a lot of rookies and 2nd year players. Remember, we were 3-4 just two years ago. We have totally revamped our front 7 and people are expecting miracles to happen in the first preseason game. It ain't gonna happen and there will be more makeshift changes and confusion in the weeks to come as we will see this defense start to take hold.

I do believe its time to get rid of the jags. Hayden, Web and those two that we signed for this game comes to mind. Maybe it would be better if we start having better competition in training camp rather than worry about filling in the numbers. This would also give some reps and some playing time to our rookies.

Ummm. On point.
You are good. Unlike some of the others.
Very real and accurate, IMO, observation.

Hope for improvement.

Wilson was picked up last year during the season.

Bush is a UDFA pickup who first came with only a tryout.
