What I would do to fix the Cowboys

1) Fire Wade and Garrett, the sooner the better. Lots of good candidates available right now. 1st on my list is Shanahan. Move before other teams snap the good ones up. Dallas needs a coach that makes the team accountable for the stupidity on the field. They need a coach that can call a good game. Garrett's play calling is baffling at times.

2) Get a good QB coach for Romo. Not all his fault because Garrett puts him in bad situations all the time. If Garrett calls another 2nd and 10 off tackle play again I am going to throw a brick through the television.

3) Rebuild the o-line now. It takes time and if you wait any longer it will be a disaster. Adams is nearing the end and Kozier doesn't cut it. Free could be a good RT, could he play left I don't know. There is no depth at all on the o-line.

4) Need some safety help.

Really not a lot to fix. I think the team can win with Romo and some adjustments in offensive philosophy. The offense needs the ball in Austin and Jones' hands more. They are the only two playmakers on offense. The alternative is to play smash mouth football with Barber. I don't care but find an identity.

On defense a good cover safety and a little more pass rush and this is a championship caliber defense. Always could use another corner because if one of the starters goes down look out.

What do you guys think?

Sell the team to a Bob Kraft type owner, who knows his limitations?

We have a good QB coach already. His name is Wade Wilson.

The offensive line cannot be rebuilt in one year. That is what we missed the ball on with 12 choices this past April and only one going to the oldest unit on the football field.

Really not a lot to fix.

You sound like Jerry Jones. The longer this type of mentality goes on, the longer it will be until this franchise wins another playoff game.

The only point I agree with is #3.

Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett aren't getting fired and what would the point be in firing your HC and OC during the middle of a Playoff Run.

Why does Tony Romo need a QB Coach? He has played well and has become better at turning the ball over.

As for Safety, I am just going to say that the talent on this team is "adequate" to go deep in the Playoffs.

What needs to happen is players need to start getting benched or an example needs to be made that if you continue to play mediocre, you will be held accountable.

Like Michael Irvin and Nate Newton were saying today, Jimmy Johnson didn't cut Swearvin' Curvin Richards for fumbling, they cut him to make an example and to show that this would not be tolerated.

Again, I ask the same question week after week after week, when is the last time a major contributor on this was benched for consistent poor play or making boneheaded mistakes consistently?

Does Shanny run the West Coast? I think Romo would thrive in that.

I'd crap can the 3-4.

I'd also crap can the idea that it's good to have corners 12 yards off the line of scrimmage.

That's it.
I agree. We need a Bill Polian or Ozzie Newman type GM, one who actually knows what he's doing...

I stand by the really not a lot to fix statement. The team is talented but poorly coached. All season long there has been questionable play calling, use or misuse of talent, stupid mistakes, stupid penalties etc....... Uncle fuddy doesn't have the respect of his players.

Give Jimmy a cool MILLION for the rest of the season_as an "advisor". Kick Wade and Garrett up to the booth, where coordinators would normally be sitting anyway.

Make your new hires, AFTER the season.

The team is talented but

Too many people on this board have bought into this falasy. The team has very average talent in most areas.

If we miss the playoffs fire everybody. Get some o-line (OT & C/G) in the draft, S/CB, ST's KR/WR. Add some speed to the ILB position and we can contend with the top dogs..

Shanahan was 24-24 in his last 3 years in Denver. He managed only 1 playoff win since the 98 Super Bowl victory.Sounds like a retread that is way past his prime.

Yea... but I've heard of Shanahan.

So he must be good.

:hammer:

Everything that has gone wrong with the Cowboys since Super Bowl XXVIII has been Jerry Jones' fault. Period.

JJ no longer has it. He's lost that drive. He can't take Miami anywhere.
