What if Bledsoe does well???

I'm sure this question may have been presented before. Let's just assume that Bledsoe plays well and lead Big D to the playoffs. 10-6 or 11-5...3600 some odd yards 27 TD's and 14 int's 63% CP etc.. you get the idea of what a decent season for him might be like. Undoubtedly, Henson does not see the field yet again. I'm in full support of Bledsoe but does he come back in '06 as the starter? Where would this leave Henson? Any thoughts...?
Bledsoe wasn't brought here to be a stop gap...it's not like Henson is on the brink...at least not the brink of being a capable NFL starter. Bledsoe was brought here to QB and lead the Cowboys for as long as he can do it...Henson won't see the field unless he progresses to the point that he's so clearly superior that we are willing to live with his inexperienced mistakes.

At this point we need to be more concerned over when Henson will prove ready to at least be a capable backup QB...the idea that he's the future of the Cowboys grows more cloudy with every season.

I'll give you my decoder ring. He's actually very predictable. Push come to shove - go away from the obvious. Thats what he'll do. Lean's to his players - Gurode/Johnson is a CLASSIC EXAMPLE! Many are getting sucked into Dre An Gurode. He's a benched Campo guy who mentally has hurt this team.... And Al Johnson will be the starter.....

He will only play young players ready to play over Vets.
Follow that and it gets easy - also leans to Jersey guys and bigger players over smaller players.....

Well that's the obvious stuff Norstradamus...but are you suggesting that you knew Parcells was going to come in and stick with the small defense he inherited for TWO seasons?

I heard you gave a decoder ring to Winicki and he hasn't won at Wedesday night BINGO since.

Parcells has admitted his biggest mistake was not going 3-4 quicker. He screwed up as he bought into the 4-3 cool aid after 2003. After last years 6-10 debacle he demanded change.

Good for us....

Right now I would say Bledsoe is our starter for 2006 and possibly beyond. His replacement doesn't appear to be on the roster right now. Until that situation changes, who would you put in there and force Bledsoe to the bench?

There is no 'what if' bledsoe does well....as long as the statue is healthy and protected he's going to lead this team to the playoffs.

Parcells didn't bring this guy in here as a last ditch effort to save his career...he brought him in here to win now. If he posts the kind of numbers he's capable I can gurantee you this team will be much better than 10-6

I will go on record.

Bledsoe will be come a Dallas fan favorite. Forget the canadian fan sniping.... This guy with Parcells will elevate this team - BIG

OK!!! I will save that prediction in my Nors folder. :)

I'll throw my 2 cents in on this. I think Bledsoe will do ok. Nothing spectacular, just ok. If Henson or Romo don't show major improvement over the course of this season and Drew Brees has another great year, we're going to pursue Phillip Rivers next season. Write it down.

Unless Bledsoe gets a serious injury, he will be the starter next year, especially with the numbers proposed in the original post.

I suspect he has just as much chance of being booed unfairly as Testaverde was. If he is, I hope he can handle it with as much class.

The fanbase still wants Henson, or some other homegrown QB.

Bledsoe has to know how difficult it will be to win the fanbase over.

Even if he plays reasonably well, for many he will still be a "retread".

I say we just say to hell with it and bring back Ryan Leaf

You cannot cite Gurode as an example because you have zero evidence that Parcells is as down on him as you say he is. In fact, it is just the opposite, Parcells feels he's had this revelation and found that Gurode actually can play well, at the Center position.

Can you show me where or when he said this because I'm having trouble remembering this. What I do remember is that he said his biggest mistake last year was getting away from running the ball and putting to much stock into the passing game.
