With our luck in these late game situations, I actually thought Akers was going to sneak it in somehow. He's almost like Vinaterri with his ability to make difficult kicks under pressure. I think I would've required a full month away from watching anything related to the NFL if Akers makes that kick.

How could a guy that can't consistently make kicks under 30 make a kick from half that distance.

Akers has serious range -- he may hit a 60 sometime in his career.

Does anyone know what round Akers was drafted in? Oh wait, he wasn't -- but we should throw a pick away on a kicker anyway.

is that a shot at me? I was the one saying that Nathan Crosby of Colorado is worth a second, because if we have him then at this point we are 8-2 and in first place in the NFC.

Novacek didn't fumble, he slipped in a wet spot in the turf a yard or so away from the goal line on 4th down. But, yes that was a disappointing loss. The team came out flat that game. Aikman was rusty in his first game back from a hamstring injury. They win that game, then they probably don't rest the starters in the season finale at the Giants and have a chance for home field advantage in the playoffs.
Yes of course! That just shows how traumatic it was. I just have a memory of Eric Turner running the length of the field in celebration. For some reason, I thought he'd recovered a fumble. That one really hurt.
