What if he does go nuts this year and we have the first pick? Who do we get or do we trade that pick? So many questions yet so little time.:laugh2:

why if you have a rb who just had a breakouy season why draft a rb. thats like the colts drafting a qb in the first round with peyton manning on their team.

If JJ has a breakout season, then the Cowboys have lot more options with two first round pick. They can select need type of player, impact player, trade down, package deals...etc.

Because I don't think JJ having a breakout season will be enough to pass up on a talent like McFadden. I like JJ alot and I hope he rolls this season but I still see us taking McFadden if we can..

re-sign JJ and then go after WR, OL, CB, and DT on the first day.

Re-sign JJ, draft McFadden, trade JJ in pre-season for a high pick the next season.

I don't think he would resign. He wants all the carries and I don't think he will ever get that with Barber around.

I don't think you get rid of a proven player for the potential of a rookie. If JJ is the back he thinks he is..and that I think he is,, I see no need in drafting a RB high. The history of the nfl is full of can't miss players, that are flipping hamburgers now. No need to take that risk at a position that is already productive for your team.

You always draft the best player available.

If it's McFadden, then you take him.

And I really want to know what a "breakout" season would be. If you're talking 1,500 yards and 10+ TDs, then we try to resign him.

McFadden can play at RB, WR, KR.....he can be a lot like Reggie Bush. But of course, I am getting ahead of myself. Who knows what player will be standing at the top of the draft board in April?

I don't know but that is the sweetest signature on this site. Nicely done.
If there was an aw.ard for signature of the year, that would win

that's not feasible. you'd be stuck with the signing bonus. no team would take him at a huge guaranteed contract unless for little in return. if he has a breakout season, they would either re-sign him if the terms were favorable or let him go. whatever made the most sense objectively with the finances considered.

it depends, you have to look at JJ's year, and decide whether McFadden will be a better option

If JJ has a break out year why get McFadden?????????

You still draft McFadden.

I don't believe for one second that Jones wants to play here anymore, either. The tide has been coming in on him for awhile now here, and he knows it. This year I think is totally for himself and a new start with some other team next season.

Plus, 1 year does not make a football player. I don't care what Jones does for us this year because he hasn't been doing it in the past. Can't trust him to be that full-time type of player we need. A season here 'n there is just not enough, we need half to full decades of consistancy out of players. Jones' chance has been had in my eyes and now it's time for the next hopeful. That's McFadden and we're stupid to a cow if we don't take him and the chance is there.

I have to agree.

I love the thought of getting McFadden, but if JJ proves he's worth keeping around this year, then I'd like to see us address needs elsewhere. If we could manage to pick up Cason and Jackson...

Jones is about as hard to replace as the air filter in my car. Some of you act like we don't have a 50-60-70 million dollar(maybe more) contract to give a QB. Then we have to sign TNew to what looks like an 80+ million dollar contract. Not to mention our other FAs like Crayton, Hamlin, etc... Flo and JJ need to go no matter WHAT they do this year. You can't keep every FA and RBs are by far the easiest to replace, unless it's an Emmitt Smith in his prime, and somtimes i think some fools think JJ is some kind of ES. Well he's not and he's as good as gone after 2007.
