What if Osa bets on himself?

Upgrade the actual bad players then. The two years prior this defense was top 5 in points allowed, top 5 in yards allowed in 2023. I get the run defense was still bad those years, but get an actual 1T in here, stop lining up Parsons in 4/4I techniques on run downs, bring in NFL quality LBs, etc. I completely understand OSA isnt a great run player, but he is far from the root cause of why this defense cant stop anyone on the ground.
I would be fine with keeping him. The issue is money. You can't keep everyone and pay them market value. Osa may not be the main problem but paying him like he a top tier DT isn't going to solve any of the other problems and it takes away the teams ability to do so.

Number isn't bad - 4 yr, 52 million guaranteed. 1st year number will be much lower than the tag figure...I'm good with it.

Risen or Coogi - who get's it posted first?

I agree completely...The OSA issue is more a result of the Cowboys not managing the cap well for years now and their roster building philosophy that tends to reject the need for depth. I think many are scarred to bring OSA back because we know that Jerry/Stephen will consider the position addressed instead of looking for another DT to rotate in free agency or the draft.
we could have him and depth, if the owners had not been incompetent for years.
Of course he's still somewhere near the top of tier two, sniffing at the bottom of tier one players.

the signing bonus can be spread out over the extent of the contract if I remember right.
$28 million not guaranteed. so we can drop him in 3 years and be ok.

not as bad as I had feared. If we got three years for fifty two million that is not all that

I do agree with you there. The issue to me isnt OSA as much as it is what else are the Cowboys going to do in order to actually improve the roster. You cant simply give raises to the same group of guys that came up short a year ago and expect different results from just a new draft class.
