What If, Philly 5-1 at Dallas 4-2 For First Place Oct 30th

One question… Is Romo 100%? If he's not, I give it one more week and play him against Cleveland. If he is healthy, there's no further question to ask – start Romo.

How would anyone know but Romo? And would he tell the truth?

Holding Romo out of the Philly game isn't such a bad idea. Jerry would love the Wentz/Dak PR bonanza.
The rust factor regards Romo will diffidently be a worry in that game.

Getting Romo injured first game back would be disastrous; reference the Philly D/line.
Browns would obviously be a softer target.

At some point Romo comes back in,yes if he isnt hurt he'll have some rust plays
but will prove to be a better QB then Dak. But Dak is there waiting. Not bad Cowboy nation.

That is the real fear with Romo. He will want to play even if he is not right. Remember last years ill fated return. He was terrible and got clobbered. Better to wait for a softer touch than a division game against the treated Eagles a bunch that would relish beating up Romo.

We beat Jacksonville in 2014 and Washington in 2008. Beat Miami in 2015

I think you have to take for granted that he is a team player. Last season, he was desperate… This year, he can see otherwise. I think he would tell the truth therefore.

All that being said, we have to pass. I don't think it would be that tough to tell if he's feeling any lingering effects of the injury.

True he's had 1 bad game against the 49ers and Panthers (which was technically his second game back but whatever) but after that he had what should have been a MVP season in 2014. If he has to have the rusty game to get to the good stuff better sooner than later right?

So rusty Tony versus improving Dak I think sums this up.

I am leaning to not making Romo's first game the Eagles game. They are easily the most active front seven we will face in the next three and I would rather a Prescott in game shape and having mobility to face them.

Then bring Romo back against the lowly Browns.

Obviously this is predicated on Prescott continuing to play well. If say he scuffles against Cincy and GB, that changes the equation a bit.

Romo might be healthy--as in Doctor says I can play healthy--but he will be rusty. I'd rather see him shake the rust off against the Browns, if Dak has a credible chance of winning the Eagles game.

I am more worried about Romo's escapability than doing the dink-and-dunk offense. I have 100% confidence that he can run the offense much better than Dak, even in his first game back. It is facing that front-7 for his return that is concerning. Dak can leave the pocket and scramble effectively, Romo can not.

I still say let Romo begin against the Browns unless Dak struggles against better teams. Cleveland would be an ideal tune-up game, not a division foe who most likely will be leading the division.

This all hinges on the fact that Dak is continually progressing each week..............

That ultimately touches on my greatest fear. I have no doubt Romo can still sling it with the best of them, but I worry that his body is no longer capable of holding up against the rigors of the NFL. It's hard for me to see a "future" -- even as small as this season -- when I can't erase from my mind the image of him laying motionless on the floor.

With that said, I'd love to be proven wrong.

I think Dak definitely needs to split the next two weeks to have any shot of the team being willing to delay Romo's re-entry. Lose both, and you'll see the panic start to rightfully set in.

Personally, there's no way I'd put Romo out there against that Philly team. Let the two rookie QBs battle it out, see where the chips fall, and then go with Romo if you're inclined.

I think it comes down to the game plan and the OC. So far he has ran a good game plan for Dak, if Romo starts just work with Romo's strength.

I heard a discussion on the radio and thought it would be an interesting topic for this site.

So Philly's only loss is to the Vikes to be 5-1. Dallas beats Cincinnati and loses to Green Bay to be 4-2.

Dallas has a bye week before the Eagles game. Romo is coming off a week's practice to play his first game.

Romo hasn't played much in the last year as he has suffered several injuries.

Dak looked sharp against Green bay, but the defense lost the game.

Do you break up the momentum and start Romo in his come back game.

Or is this Wentz vs. Dak for first place.

And why would you make the decision you do?

If it comes down just like this, I start Dak and save Romo for the Browns the next week.

The game plan is to bust the eagles hole with the run game, controlling the clock and letting Zeke establish a beat down on the defense where the second half they will be worn out.

Then let Dak loose.

But I could, be wrong.

I stay with Dak for the Eagles game. Tony may be physically ready, but he won't be ready for the speed of the game.
