I heard a discussion on the radio and thought it would be an interesting topic for this site.

So Philly's only loss is to the Vikes to be 5-1. Dallas beats Cincinnati and loses to Green Bay to be 4-2.

Dallas has a bye week before the Eagles game. Romo is coming off a week's practice to play his first game.

Romo hasn't played much in the last year as he has suffered several injuries.

Dak looked sharp against Green bay, but the defense lost the game.

Do you break up the momentum and start Romo in his come back game.

Or is this Wentz vs. Dak for first place.

And why would you make the decision you do?

++++++

If it comes down just like this, I start Dak and save Romo for the Browns the next week.

The game plan is to bust the eagles hole with the run game, controlling the clock and letting Zeke establish a beat down on the defense where the second half they will be worn out.

Then let Dak loose.

But I could, be wrong.

Interesting. If Romo can play he will be playing. He needs to be in real playing shape as determined by the coaches and not by himself. Tell you what though and lot of fans would be delighted to see Prescott beat the Eagles with Wentz. He might just do it too!

There will always be an excuse to hold him back if you really get down to it. The best course of action is to get him out there asap even if it means "rust". Worst case scenario is you just have him run the Dak 'n Dunk against Philly and Cleveland until he gets back in the groove... assuming he can be convinced to do so.

Romo is going to play vs The Eagles, I bet that is the week Tyron and Dez come back also.

I think the Eagles after a week off are going to have a problem sunday with the lions passing game. The lions are desperate.

Easy way to settle this debate. Play Sanchez the rest of the year.

I got a feeling Romo walks into a lose lose situation when he gets back. Not a bad problem to have but in all honesty we need that Philly game. It is a huge game.

Depends on Tyrone Smith, but no matter what Philly is a tough front seven to come back to. I don't quite agree that it's a no-win situation for Tony though. If things turn out as described in the original post, a Cowboys win would be a big win for Romo in his first game back.

I'm starting Romo unless the team wins both the next two games in fairly convincing fashion with Dak playing well and demonstrating an increasing grasp of the whole offense along the way.

If the latter happens, though, the temptation to play Dak v. Wentz with both teams at 5-1 with the division lead hanging in the balance at the cost of keeping Romo on the bench for one more week would be pretty high. If Dak were to lose that game, no biggie, we get to smile and play the 'I'm not left handed' card and upgrade the QB in week 8. If he wins, that's a whole other kettle of fish, but with back to back to back wins v. three quality teams, and a 6 game winning streak, I can't imagine anybody complaining about maintaining the status quo. Romo might not like it, but it's a legitimate decision to play the rookie at that point, and I'd understand it if that's the direction the team wanted to go. I'd be bummed for Tony, but I'd understand it. Just like I'd be bummed for Dak if they sat him, instead.
