I am seeing improvement each year under him, not just in wins and losses, but other facets of the game.
Adversity: QB goes down for 5 games and the team goes 4-1.
Kicker craps the bed and we still win.
Two winning seasons despite the GM and his offspring.
Etc...etc.

I realize that....my point is, that it was WAY too premature to call him safe....I still don't know why the bar has suddenly been lowered in regard to his future. If we do happen to have another Washington type game tomorrow, there are gonna be a lot of 180's around here.
The bar isn't lowered. When was the last time we played that well, away from home in January. When you look at the off season and how the team's performed despite shedding payroll it could well be stated we've already exceeded expectation.

It certainly has been lowered. With the possible exception of Whyjerry, read the posts and demands made here after last year's SF game....and the posts and demands prior to the season. We have yet ANOTHER baby faced HC about to make a NFCCG and possibly Super Bowl appearance, while we make excuses....enough of this crap. I hope like hell that we win tonite....but if we crap the bed, a 13-6 record with wins against REAL AVERAGE teams is what I'm gonna take out of it.

Mike is safe this year. Rightfully so. Just look at what we had to do just to get here. We overcame so much bad stuff. Same is true for the Niners.

That’s all well and good. What I think a lot of people are arguing is. Even if the cowboys lose today it doesn’t mean it’s the coaches fault necessarily. It could just be the personnel as well.

You admit yourself that the Jones’ hold the team back. Yet if the cowboys don’t make the NFCCG you want to scapegoat the head coach.

A lot of us believe that if the cowboys fall short this year. It won’t be because of McCarthy but because of the players the FO provided for him.

Sorry, but it's all about the playoffs....24-10 doesn't mean a damn thing to me if we play tomorrow like we did last year against SF. I hope we do lay the wood to SF tomorrow....I'm just confused why regular season records have suddenly trumped post season success far as determining the future of our HC...we seem to be moving the goal post around a lot lately depending on what time of the season it is....along with forgetting all the "tough talk" after moments of failure.
fans are flippant and reactionary. it’s nothing new. last year was embarrassing and guys were emotional. fast forward a year and after retooling on the fly and losing dak for a stretch they performed equally as well as last year, won a road playoff game in convincing fashion and best tom brady for the first time ever. regular season matters for context, and now coupled with getting to the divisional round and it’s enough to secure his job for now. fairly straight forward.

Average? They have 6 wins against playoff teams so far.

Nah. We've already exceeded expectation. You can set pretty unrealistic goals, but for this team we're over that bar.

I agree 100 percent! If the Cowboys lose today there was no improvement over last season . This team appears to be stuck where they are: A good team who can beat the tomato cans of the league but can't hang with the first tier teams! I have no doubt Large Mike will get a reprieve and be touted for another ho hum season though!

ONLY if we aren't ready to play, and/or it's a mistake filled game. You are correct though. the HIGH MAJORITY of the blame should land at the feet of Booger and Chuckles for sleeping through the entire FA period!!!

Absent abject humiliation at the hands of SF, I suspect MM's job is safe. I take no stock in Jerry's comments, because he's prevaricated on this topic in the past. I just hope MM has this team ready to play this afternoon; he clearly did not last year.

I still remember EVERYONE....and I mean EVERYONE after last year's SF loss stating that we had to go DEEP into the playoffs this season for MM to keep his job...a large majority actually wanted him fired last year after the SF debacle. So, my question is this....what if we have another Washington performance tomorrow, where we totally crap the bed making mistakes and basically don't show up? Should ONE Wild Card victory against an 8-9 Division Winner save his job? I say hell no. When I started hearing five (5) minutes after the TB game that he was safe, I put my head in my hands in disbelief....I think it was WAY TO PREMATURE to call him safe late Monday evening. I still think we can do much better at HC and OC. BTW...if we lose a close one, I reserve the right to blame everything on Booger and Chuckles for the failure to add more weapons....SF already had more weapons on offense than us, and STILL went out and signed Christian McCaffery. I have a VERY bad feeling that he is going to go off tomorrow...hope not!!!
I said after the playoff game last season that they would and should keep him.

They will not fire him this year win or lose this game.

If they cannot run the ball, some assistant coaches might get replaced.

If we lose tonite, I want to see your Wildcard Winner flag flying out front by sun up tomorrow.

They have 6 wins against playoff teams already and today will make 7.
