Wow, a TO apoligist, your view point is remarkable.

I couldn't care less about TO... I care about winning, and in today's game, TO provides an avenue to do a whole ton of it.

What have these guys currently on the roster ever done to prove to you that the star means ANYTHING to them, other than where they get their paycheck?

after scoring his first home-game TD in a Dallas uni (10 minutes into the contest) - he rushes to the centerfield star, whips out his receiver's towel, drops to his knees, and begins lovingly "polishing" the star.

the crowd goes nuts as they chant "TO - TO - TO...."

yeah, right. and then Jerry Jones yells "cut!... okay, that's a wrap... great job TO! i really felt the love. what'd we say? $250k for sellin' the marriage....
what? half a mil!?!.... drew - ya better control yer b****!"

I was having a hard time at first accepting the whole T.O. deal, but what finally got me over the hump is imagining how I would react when T.O. scored his first Touchdown at Texas Stadium vs. the Eagles...
You know he'll go honor the star, somehow.
And at that point was when I imagined that in my mind that I realized that no matter how I feel about T.O...I'll giggle like a schoolgirl when he does it.

And that's how Cowboysguy learned to stop worrying and love Terrell Owens...

I agree. I'm no fan of T.O., and enjoyed seeing Roy break his ankle. But I wonder what everyone's so worried about. When the Eagles traded for him, they were were a team on the verge of making the Superbowl and needed something to get them over the edge. They took a risk with T.O. and it helped get them to the SB the next year and he almost helped them win it. We're a 9-7 team that missed the playoffs. Yes, we could have easily won a few more games if we had a kicker. By the same token, we could have lost a few more games had some plays not gone our way.

Now, the Skins, Giants and Eagles have all reloaded with more players and all of them have a great chance at being better next season. Can we really expect to keep up with the signings we've made so far plus the draft? I think the risk is not that T.O. is a cancer that brings the team down. I think the risk is not doing something significant and ending up with another season not making the playoffs. It's like not investing in the stock market because you're afraid you'll lose your money. However, the bigger risk than losing your money is not having enough to live on at retirement because you played it safe and earned 3% in a bank while inflation rose at 4%.

Do we think our players are so stupid and easily influenced that T.O. is going to come in and make the rest of them prima donnas? Or are we just worried people will hate us if T.O. is on the team? Or do we think having him will tarnish the team's image? If so, I don't see people disowning Michael Irvin, Erik Williams and Nate Newton despite their problems. If we were a championship contender already needing just a piece or two to make the Superbowl, I think signing T.O. would be a risky move. But right now we're a third place team in a division that's gotten a whole lot better this off-season and in a very good position to take a little gamble. If we gamble and lose, we just miss the playoffs again. But we might gamble and win and make the playoffs or better. I think those are odds worth taking.

I've always been of the 'willing to forgive' breed.

I was willing to embrace Malone onto the Spurs, and I'm willing to embrace Owens onto the Cowboys.

I hated Deion Sanders before signing with the Cowboys and cheered like crazy while he was here. I went back to thinking he was a punk the second he signed with Washington. :)

It's all relative, IMO. I'm skeptical of TO's ability to perform as part of a team, but I'm willing to give it a try. Why? I think we need a splashy move like this to truly compete at a high level. Kosier and Ayodele, a kicker and a Fabini-type aren't going to get it done alone.

Again, I don't want him here, but what I want doesn't matter to JJ.
With that said: to win me over, he should score, hand the ball to the ref, and clamly walk to the sideline to talk to Drew about what to do for the next series. No hoopla, no big scene. You want me to believe you've changed, show me!

TO risked his career playing on that ankle in the Super Bowl. I think he'll do what it takes to win games if he's being paid well. If we lowball him in his contract and he agrees to it anyway, we'll see Mr. Hyde TO. If we pay him top 5 receiver salary (which we can) each year, we will see Dr. Jekkyl TO (pretty sure that was the stable personality). TO wants attention and money; if he gets that, he won't be a problem for the Cowboys.

TO is a cancer. It took him a little over a year to tear the Eagles apart(which is a good thing). Cancer grows very quickly. If we don't win a SB this year(which I highly doubt) then what will happen to us the next year? How long until he wants to renegotiate his contract? Unless we win it all this year we are making a terrible mistake!!! :ralph:

and if he gets MORE attention that means he wants MORE money - then what?

as for TO risking his career to play - there's NO WAY IN HELL such a showboat was going to miss that stage. let's not even try to pretend he did it *for the team*. that was pure TO stroking TO.

I don't want to wait for his first touchdown - I want him to bow before the midfield star with apologies at the press conference on Monday announcing his joining the team. I insist that he makes a show of his intentions to put the team first before he gets his paws on the signing bonus check.

T.O. is a theatrical kind of guy. Maybe such a theatrical display of his subservience to the team will stick with him longer.

The Star incident was never that big a deal to me...Sure it pissed me off at the time but Good God...It's not like he killed someone.

Players do these sort of things from time to time.

I remember Ohio St and Wisconsin doing their little Dances on each others Logos at midfield after each victory...Did it make me mad that the Wisconsin Players were dancing on Ohio St's Midfield "O"?

Yes!

But if they would have stopped Wisconsin from scoring and winning the game they wouldn't had to deal with it.

Same with the Cowboys...If They including Teague...Would have kept Owens out of the endzone...The Star incident wouldn't have happened.

when you said "kissed", you really meant "pissed" on, right?

There is only one symbol that Owens would kiss.

agreed. the star incident i think is given more blame for the anti-TO sentiment than it deserves. yea, it was "not respectful" and all, but as you say - it happens. teague would not be our "hometown hero" if it had not had happened so to me it all worked out. you do it, you pay the price, it's over.

but this is the mindset of TO. ME ME ME. we don't put up with it from children but some people feel he will bring winning back to dallas so they don't care.

i do. *how* you win is very important to me and ensuring you have the team values at heart is the core to having a team.

we don't have a team right now but more a collection of players and some are just like bill - on their final run for glory. maybe they'll make it but the methods used in general have lower percentages of working than an actual "plan" and team committment.

if we've signed TO then we more or less "sold out" to values we laughed at previously. we giggled merrily when the eagles signed him and correctly predicted the doom and gloom that would follow.

suddenly TO can be tamed.

heh, excuse me while i call bullshyte.
