I totally agree, but Stephen is now gun shy after Brandon Carr. It's very obvious and he's mentioned it at least a half dozen times over the years. Hopefully he changes his tune by next year as we need a few stars on defense to get this puppy right. Picking 24-32 won't get that done.
Yeah, because there aren't any defensive stars in the league who have been picked after 24th.

He's worth whatever his rookie contract is. We need a couple more years to determine if he's the guy.

No question about it. Franchise QB's are exceptionally rare. When you have one, you pay whatever it takes to keep him. It's not debatable.

But you may have to go cheap elsewhere. When Seattle paid Russell Wilson and their top defenders, they went cheap on the o-line. And it almost got him killed.

Similar decisions may have to be made in 3 years.

The key is that they need to keep drafting well. You can let good players go if you can replace them with good players on rookie contracts. You even gain high compensatory picks when you lose good players.

You are exactly right. This team is set up to keep a dominant offensive group. They will have to go young and fast on the other side of the ball. It is what it is. They do have a small window here however before Dak's contract comes up.

He will command about 30mill/year by the time his rookie contract is up. No doubt about it.
