Oh cut it out.

Going by OPs scenario, there is zero chance Dak would be franchised.

As @Corso poignantly pointed out, we ain't running a Commander outfit here, and Dak projects to be a top-5 QB to Cousins' top 12-15.

There is not a zero chance Dak gets franchised tagged . In fact it most likely will happen. The Commanders the only team that franchises it's QB?

I'm not interested in a salary cap busting contract. If he's going to get the kind of money you all want him to get he better have a super bowl ring on his contract signing hand when it comes up.

Never forget Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Clint Stoerner, Anthony Wright, Ryan Leaf. You can win a superbowl in this league with an above average QB. Dak has elite potential and his head is screwed on right. Jerry and the front office just need to build this team around him. If he continues to play at this level he definitely deserves a huge contract

After seeing the ridiculous money Stafford just got, what can Dak get? Let's assume the following:

Dak wins three playoff games in the next three years, and is top five in the NFL in completion percentage and TD's. He is clearly a star player. What will Jerry offer? What would it take to keep Dak happy?

Let's not add to the fact that Jerry is Cray Loyal to his boys and Dak is most certainly his guy.
Dude will be treated properly by the most consistent and loyal owner in all of Sports.

Figuring out how much to pay Dak is a nice problem to have. That means he has had another great year.

In fact it most likely will happen.

Based on what? It makes zero financial sense for him to play year 4 of his deal, unless Dallas completely low balls him. The far more likely scenario is he signs a below market deal like Russell Wilson did.

Seriously, if he keeps improving. wow. That assures 5 years of mediocrity in Detroit. That's what bad teams do pay average players like stars. Jerry used to do it too. Thanks Stephen.

If so, why didn't Russell Wilson? He won a SB and went to another, and had good numbers.
He signed in back 2015 for 21.9 mil per year and a whopping 60 million guaranteed over just four years....which allows him earlier entry back into the FA market if he pleases.

So not sure what your point is

Stafford's contract is exactly why I was not real happy this offseason with our lack of free agent signings... we have a two year window with a franchise QB making pennies. We should have been signing guys like JPP and/or Bouye to front-loaded contracts to make a super bowl run in these two years, just like Seattle did with Russell Wilson. An opportunity missed IMO.

I totally agree, but Stephen is now gun shy after Brandon Carr. It's very obvious and he's mentioned it at least a half dozen times over the years. Hopefully he changes his tune by next year as we need a few stars on defense to get this puppy right. Picking 24-32 won't get that done.
