I guarantee you if Garrett has a successful 2009 season, he can write his ticket and for how much he wants anywhere.

Garrett had a very good 2007, a challenging but not too shabby 2008 given all the injuries, growing pains (learning on the job), etc.

I fully expect him to take his coaching to a much improved level this coming season.

fwiw i agree with you and i want this guy GONE along with Wade.

long term he'll make much more as HC than $11.5 for a lower rung franchise (rams).

Of course the pessimist would say that his coaching can't get worse so can only improve in 2009 (in 2007 sporano ran the show as we have learned)) ;)

He surprised people last year, but this year they caught up with him.
That is only a part of it. Don't underestimate the impact of losing Sparano. He coached the OL and had a voice in running the offense. Houck didn't coach the OL as well and didn't give Garrett any support like Sparano did. Add the injuries to the mix and it's not hard to see why the 2008 offense didn't measure up to the 2007 offense.

How many interviews did Tony Dungy have before Tampa finally took a chance on him? 5 or 6 years worth.

Pay attention to something other than the petty bitterness of the season and you learn stuff. Maybe...

I think Garrett is talented but still inexperienced. I don't like his opportunistic bent considering the support and rewards he has received from the Cowboys.

You would think Garrett with only two years of employment including an outstanding raise and promotion would make more of a commitment to help this team also knowing that if he is successful he would inevitably be the next head coach in the very near future.

Jerry encourages his coaches to interview in other places ..... it makes the franchise look better and Jerry knows he can "outdeal" anyone he wants to keep.

He turned down HC jobs last year.

He had more job interviews than anyone this year. ANYONE.

He is still has a job making as much money (or possibly more) as some HC's.

He will likely get more interviews next year.

His stock isn't falling at all.

Uhh, yeah, his stock has plummeted really bad. THe fact that he didn't get hired after all these interviews is a negative, NOT a positive. If he was such a hot coaching prospect then one of these teams would have hired him.

Why don't you keep your pie hole shut, and stop acting like an internet tough guy with your little snide insults for people who are just posting opinions on the board. If you can't handle it then you show who the real "child" is here, not to mention flaming hypocrit.

I really don't think Jerry encourages coaches to interview. He may have even said that glibly in the press because stating otherwise would be exploited as Jerry exercising his stereotyped control freakiness.

In my opinion, Garrett hasn't gone out on these interviews because Jerry encouraged him. To me Garrett is an overt opportunist lacking in proportionate loyalty to the Cowboys organization.

He may also have an overconfident if not overinflated opinion of himself considering he may have invited himself back to LA with his wife to tour the facilities. But I don't know if those reports are accurate.

I respect Garrett's talent and potential, but believe his inexperience showed to some degree this season albeit injuries and overhyped Oline, receiver personnel as well as the competition had something to do with it.
