Some tidbits here. I will give some points, as I do not believe in just posting the link. That is lazy posting.

Stephen talks about getting players, as the trades just worked out for this time, as other times to did not. They did not have a plan to just trade for a few players. But it worked out they did. As it did not work out last season at the trade deadline. Everything needs to fall in place, including the price.

He said they would like to have both Hankins and Watkins back, it is not either or one of them, it is both. I know this is not what fans want to hear. But it does not rule out drafting one either.

Also they are not opposed to drafting a K.

A few other tidbits in there as well.

Updated team FA tracker, thought to add this for the latest info.

Oh boy. That draft. Ugh.

I was happy to read this quote:

  • Earlier in the day, Jerry Jones said he views Terence Steele as a swing tackle for now. When asked to Stephen, he had a vague answer, stating "I think it's the five-best guys. At the end of the day. Mike's always preached that you know. It's early. We got a new offensive line coach. He gets them out there and gets his hands on em and sees what they can do. we'll figure out what are the best five guys and what makes us the best football team for 17 games plus hopefully the playoffs."
I don't think Jerry should be deciding who is starting where in March.

IMO think having Hankins and Watkins back to pair with Osa gives us an ok group of DTs. Not great by any means, but probably not a reason we are going to lose games.

Anything is possible, although they surely should have gotten all the cautionary problems needed to prevent it from happening again. A repeat of that absolutely stupid decision would be catastrophic, without a doubt.

I made a post about that they're covering a lot of bases right now, 2009 is surely in the back of my mind lol
I wouldn't sweat it too much. The Cowboys drafts have been significantly better in recent years, plus in 2009 they didn't have a 1st or 2nd round pick. Those were the days when Jerry would fill his roster with overrated WRs (Roy Williams), utilize the FA market (Ken Hamlin, Leonard Davis, etc) and outsmart the rest of the league with hitting on picks late in the draft. Problem was when they hit on these value picks in the draft/UDFAs (Romo, Austin, Witten, etc) they had a stacked coaching staff who could identify and develop the talent on the roster. Just look at the names they had while Parcells was here....Todd Haley, Todd Bowles, Anthony Lynn, Sean Payton, Mike Zimmer, etc.

The script has been completely flipped and the Cowboys approach is now all about the draft. Their money and resources have been dedicated to keeping high dollar front office types who focuson the draft while paying guys like McCarthy mid to bottom of the league coaching money and relying on youngsters like Kellen Moore to be the main assistants. Jerry/Stephen aren't paying coaches until they prove their worth like DQ did.

I just can't see a 2009 draft ever making a comeback....at least I hope not

Well, considering that we were a better team with Hankins and Watkins, I would rather they do that than nothing. I can't see us drafting a big NT early as that is not the team's MO. I am hoping by the third round but would expect more of a late-round shot like with Ridgeway and Bohanna. Keep shooting until you get it right, I guess.

If there's one thing applicable from Fantasy football to real football it's to not draft a kicker

I hope they look at the Australian rugby leagues, Canadian Football League, XFL, etc and bring in some kickers for tryouts. Heck, commit a full day strictly for kicker tryouts and pick the best one.

I really enjoy pee breaks during the games. Please make this a non-issue this year.
