What is the next move, if any until the draft. Other than getting Dez on a long term contract.

Now that McClain is signed. The LB group seems it will be a strength again. Even with Carter and Durant gone, which one or both not a complete surprise. I think it was more wishful thinking we would retain 2 of them and Ro. But with Lee returning, the emergence of Hitchins, Ro, Gackhar and Brinkley, Wilbur. Do they draft a LB higher than 3 or 4.

With Hardy, the emergence of Lawrence, do they still go DE & DT higher in the draft. Which I think they should at both positions, tohugh there is already much competition on the roster. But none that really stand out as that huge difference maker, but possibly can emerge.

Does this make going CB higher now more the priority, as well as RB still [not counting on AP at this time]. I think both CB & S are now in the mix as higher round picks.
OL, wouldn't rule it out.

Players left that were UFA's that were on the roster last year, or PS. Not that it matters right now.
Did Dunbar or Jones sign their RFA tender. I have not seen. And Dez needs to sign his FT tender, but a long term deal is needed as we know.
UFA's left and probably won't be back, or can wait until after the draft. lb J. Anderson, DE J. Crawford & A. Spencer, S CJ Spillman, OG D. Hawkins, OT T. Hills [these 2 were kept on the roster last year for a reason, at the time].
Is Mike Pellerin signed to a reserves / futures contract, I have not seen.

But none of these players stand out, and would be churned most likely anyway. Crawford showed flashes at times though.

So what should the draft strategy be now, without the BPA theory. So BPA based on need.

Nice post jazz! I think this definitely makes BPA (ala Martin pick) the definite way to go on the 1st round.

Doh! Didn't read your disclaimer at the end. DE/DT, RB, CB, S

Whew!

It all depends on how the talent is distributed in the draft IMO. If they like some DL in the third then maybe they go secondary or RB or RT earlier,,, my personal preference would be DT earlier rather than later.

Realistically? I think we bring back Spencer before the draft. The others can wait.

Unrealistically? I hope we find a way to acquire Adrian Peterson.

I would agree that that Spencer could be brought back before the draft outside of that I think the Cowboys full attention will be on the draft. I also think the Cowboys will add a player or 2 as we get into June and teams end up releasing players. I also would not be shocked to see Carr released in June depending on what Dallas does in the draft concerning CB

Can someone correct me if i'm wrong but do we only have 3 safeties signed to the roster?

Wilcox
Church
Heath?

I know white has played some free safety so hes a possibility, but if im right safety could be a target in the early rounds, which would suck because i very strongly dislike Landon Collins.

It seems just by the LBs they have looked at (Combine, pro days or have scheduled visits with) It would appear to be 1-3 round type grades on...Off the top of my head that would be Kendricks, McKinney and Dawson.

For DT/DE....Seems like we have shown interest in Odighizuwa (sp?), Vic Beasley, Dupree, Fowler, Mario Edwards Jr, , Frank Clark, David Irving....I can not think of any others off the top of my head. I imagine that Beasley and Fowler might be gone.. So of the others only Dupree and OO seem to be listed as first rounders and who knows if they will still be there.

Oline - It seemed that of the names I have heard (will not list them as I don't remember the names), most seem to be Olineman that are not considered first or second rounders.

It seems like the most players they have coming in or have talked to that have 1-2 round grades (possibly 3rd as well) are the RBs and CBs.

I think as we see more names listed of the 30 national invites we should start seeing a clearer picture of what area they are really looking at, even though it may not pan out that way if their picks get taken before their slots.

If the BPA ends up being a corner, I could see Carr getting cut in June. Otherwise, I don't think we're in a position to do it. Not knowing exactly what we've got in Claiborne has really hampered our ability to move on from Carr. Most likely, we'll be moving on from both.

I don't see safety as an early round target because I believe Dallas likes what it has in Wilcox and Church as the starters. I could see it being a target later in the draft to add depth, but I do think Dallas sees White as a hybrid, so there's no urgency.

and I agree which is why I threw in the depending on what Cowboys do in the draft. I think right now the CB position outside of Scandrick is pretty much up in the air.

I'ms till holding out judgment on RoMac until he proves he can stay healthy and has the drive to be successful and not retire twice. As for the draft, I say we cut Carr and draft a CB within the first two rounds. I want to take a RB in the first round (that kid from Wisconsin), but if there is a stud DT still available I say we take a DT first round at 27.

By far the biggest need on this team is improving the pass rush.

That is why they signed Hardy and I think they look to Lawrence to develop. Dallas should not have to reach for a potential pass rusher and I think they will be able to look other areas and draft based on BPA

So you are satisified with our current pass rushing group? That surprises me Dooms.

They have looked at Rowe and Randall who could go be 2nd round targets. They both seem to be climbing the boards lately.

Biggest need is a dt then a cb. Id still like to bring spikes in for more depth at lb. Hes only 27.

I think it's quiet until the draft.

I still have DL has being high on list of needs. Mincy and Hardy are on one year deals. Who knows if they come back next year. After them we have DLaw. If BPA is DE at #27, take him. You can never have enough DE's who can rush the passer.

Satisfied? No but I think it helps Dallas in terms of going for the best player they can get in rd 1. That 1st rd pick we can't afford to miss on, I don't want to see Dallas take a DE for the sake of taking one I want them to get a player who can come in and make a big impact be it a CB, a Safety, a RB, DT or DE or whatever the position may be. As much as I may not care for Hardy the move does help the Cowboys in not having to reach for a DE. That is how you end up with a K. Pittman or Shanta Carver
