Ranking "The best" in music is a misnomer in my opinion. Choosing a favorite song or band or whatever cannot be conveyed as a single song or band because music's primary power is the ability to evoke an emotional response from someone. While there are definitely songs that always do this, in truth. It's more like pairing wines with foods. Some wines pair much better with specific types of food.
For most people this is actually the same way music works on people. While there is no specific food involved, there is emotional state involved.
One day, my emotional state make get more amplified by Clutch's Tight Like That or Days of the New, Shelf in the Room. (acoustic grooving blues rock)
Other days, it might be Metallica's Battery or Pantera's Domination (super heavy high energy frenetic music)
Then it can be things like Megadeth Angry Again or even Alice in Chains, Down in a Hole
Limits prevent linking Down in a Hole but that is a stupid great song.
So, I've always disagreed with trying to select a single song or band. It all depends on how I'm feeling in that exact moment.
