Romo has no zip to his passes... I want a big QB

Should have had that realization before giving him $52 million guaranteed.....................he is your QB for the next 3 yrs min so you better figure out a system that he can succeed in and Garrett's aint it.

To be a competitor, at some point you have to

1) beat good teams
2) beat teams by a lot of points.

For the most part, we don't.

How far away?

Take Jerry's remaining life expectancy then add 5. That's if were are lucky and Stephen doesn't suffer from the same delusions of grandeur around that time.

I'm dead serious though. I was there when people were up in arms over Landry getting fired. But jerry was actually making smart moves then. And he just so happened to know a guy personally that was not only very intelligent, but applied that brain to football. And initially stayed out of his way. And you saw what happened when he finally decided he HAD to be involved.

So until that same initial circumstance is repeated similarily, it's unlikely anything will change.

This team is your typical middle of the pack NFL team, talent wise. 90% of the NFL sits in this pack. Every year, certain teams find their way out of this muddled group with good on field coaching and key offseason personnel decisions that are making a positive impact. Our Cows severely lack in both of these areas. Until that changes, you'll continue to see this team float around .500, bumping around the muddled pack with 25 or 26 other teams. Avoiding injuries and a little luck seems to help as well...

For those of you who say let's fire Garrett, do you really want to go in a different direction yet again? I don't. I don't think that lack of continuity is the answer. I would probably keep Garrett one more year, if for no other reason than he seems to be acquiring talent and stockpiling it. Lest year's draft was productive. I don't know about the Escobar pick, but time will tell. I'm willing to give them a bit of a pass since The Beard and Williams have played so well. You aren't going to hit on every pick, and Escobar may yet become a player.

So what is on the wish list? I think defensive line must be addressed. But how much different might this team look if Crawford had been healthy. I hate Spencer, but what if he had been healthy? Personally, I would let Spencer walk, but what if we give Spencer a one year "prove it" deal and he reverts back to his form of last year? It is really hard to judge what this team might have had with those two players.

Personally, I think Callahan and Kiffen should both go. I think Callahan is getting less done with more. Kiffen's defense sucks, but what sort of defense will he field with healthy players? I can see the argument either way as pretty reasonable.

The bottom line is that we should use this next draft to stockpile talent. Be smart and draft well. I don't think that any position should be overlooked because we already have a player in place (probably other than QB in the first round). The only caveat I would say is that I would lean more towards proven talent rather than projects with upside. Also draft players with talent and make the scheme fit the player rather than making the player fit the scheme (within reason). How much better would this team be this year with Warford be at guard rather than Escobar riding the pine? Those are the type of calls that define a franchise over the long haul.

You say we've been drafting better of late but that's only true to a point.

We still waste too many high picks.

Last years 1st & 2nd for Claiborne and this years 2nd on Escobar.

That's three premium picks on players that aren't helping this team now, and considering Romo, Witten and Ware's age; now is when we need them.

Too true.

This team has some difficult decisions to make in the upcoming off season. For example what is D. Ware? Is he a superstar that has no help (in which case he could easily dominate a game with some talent around him) or is he a player on the decline that we are spending a ton of cap space on. You have to get the big questions like that right because to guess wrong really hurts the team. The only way to hide bad decisions is to draft really well, or get really lucky.

Ware tries to use speed to run around the tackle almost every pass play now. I wonder if he's still not healthy and cant use power to drive the end back or move inside. But i dont see him being effective because he takes such a long time to loop around and come back that the QB has already thrown the ball.

There was one play last night where he lined up on Left side (from the QB perspective) and tried to run around the tackle - he reach out to grab at the QB while the tackle just rode him in a semi circle..... when he missed he just kept running allthe way to the opposite sideline after the tackle released him.

There was no one open right away, so the Qb just ran to his left in that huge space vacated by ware. The Qb is running or scrambling untouched through all that real estate on the left side while Ware is jogging towards the other sideline after his momentum carried him past the QB and he either gave up or just didnt feel like using any energy to stop, change direction and continue to play defense.

That was just pathetic - Its like he never thought that he should be responsible for anything other than a quick run at the QB and when he missed the play was over for him.

I honestly thought this team was moving in the right direction. Than Chicago happend. Now I have the sinking feeling the only direction the team is moving is backwards into the deep dark abyss of NFL nothingness.

DeMarcus Ware invisible again when it counts.

Sean Lee injured yet again.

Hatcher starting to look like a guy protecting his pay check.

Those are the teams's best defensive players.

Tony Romo beginning to develop happy feet and 34 y.o next season.

Jason Witten becoming far too easily contained.

Miles Austin barely an NFL player.

Former cornerstone's of the offense. Fortunately, Smith, Frederick and Bryant give a glimmer of hope.

This team has once again proving they simply are not tough enough and mentally resilient enough to be a champion.....not even close. Time to tear it all down.

Goodness, that is depressing.

So much money spent this year on guys who aren't helping this team win: Spencer, Ratliff, Ware, Austin, Claiborne, Lee (when he isn't on the field).....

I felt like I was watching Romo last night, not our number 9, but the guy on the other team, moving around, making plays down field, our guy doesn't have that any more.

We have developed a offense that Tony can run, a dink and dunk horizontal attack that sadly everybody has figured out. You could have him try to throw down field again, but then you'd have the same results as the first half of last year, more pics than TDs. When we began to let him use the short game in the second half of last year we began to win, and they refined and adjusted it in the off season, but it's easy to defend and EVERYBODY knows how to defend it.

Tony no longer has the arm and accuracy to make throws down field, sure he makes a good deep throw from time to time, but he simple not capable of doing it on a regular basis. If he could, there's no doubt we'd be doing it. He has the time, the receivers are there but we don't pull the trigger. If you don't believe me, ask Dez.

We are headed backwards. Not even sure how we begin to fill our holes. But congrats Jerry you have effectively wasted Romo and our window with Wade and Garrett. Would rather lose with horrible coaches so you can have fun/meddle than hire a real coach.

My fear is even if Jerry stepped down Stephen would be even worse. And he isn't that old.
