What is with all the Moon love?

Moon is irrelevant in my book. If he gets in I wouldn't argue with it but if he doesn't I'm not gonna cry foul either. If I was voting there would probably be others that I would put ahead of him.

BTW to the guy who asked "Who else could run the 'Run-n-Shoot' the way he did. Jim Kelly...he did it with the Houston Gamblers and did a great job with it.

Same here...maybe the only thing that hurts moon is his off the field issues...maybe my memory is wrong but didn't he have some domestic dispute issues concerning his wife.

His wife later admitted that she overexaggerated her claims that Warren abused her. She had a bad credit card problem and Moon tried to take her card from her. A scuffle ensued and she ultimately called the police. She wanted to drop the domestic abuse charges, but the DA wouldn't do it.

When he was found not guilty, she was rejoicing alone with Moon.

This doesn't sound like a man who seems guilty to me.

Warren Moon contributed to the Buffalo collapse. The offense didn't do squat in the 2nd half and Moon also turned the ball over. I agree he had a great first half in that game.

Houston did roll up in that game, but Moon drove them down the field in the final mins of the 4th when they were down 38-35 and threw a strike to Drew Hill in the endzone...which Hill dropped. They settled for a fieldgoal and the rest is history.

Moon deserves to be in, but I would to see the off the field abuse issues with him cloud the water like it did with Irvin...no matter how exaggerated or not.

I didn't realize the Gamblers were ever in the NFL.

Didn't the second half of that game start with DelGreco slipping down on the kickoff and giving Buffalo the ball in Houston territory?

Fellas, we just must agree to disagree. We apparently saw a different QB play. And the one guy who listed the stats makes my point. Warren only qualifies based on numbers. And in terms of putting up numbers in the run and shoot, how about David Klingler? How about Andre Ware? Both looked like world beaters in College, running the run and shoot, were drafted very high, and then bombed in the pros where they didn't run the run and shoot. I don't think the run and shoot explains away a QB's abilities, and again I say, I think Moon was a good QB, but I think it is wrong to say no one else could have put up those numbers in the run and shoot. The run and shoot was made to produce passing numbers.
Why are you comparing what Moon did in the NFL to what others did in college? Ware had the chance in Detroit and couldn't do it.

Moon may deserve the HOF ,but he played in a dome most of his career and I think everyone can agree it is much easier throwing in a dome than dealing with the elements.
I know most will disagree but I do not think Farve should get into the HOF....
In farves hey day . I would pray for us to get Greenbay instead of the Niners , because I knew Farve with hand us the game by handing our Defensive backs the ball a few times . Early and often.

I was much more neverous bout facing Young.
HOF is suppose to be best of your Era and I think MArino, Young , Montana , J.Kelly and Aikman were all better.

I realize Farve has stats but dose stats tell the whole story?

Moon ran the offense well in the pros against stout teams such as Cleveland and the Cincinnattis, Klingler and Ware ran the offenses well against Louisiana Tech, SMU and Eastern Washington. IMO apples and oranges comparison

I am not sure since I don't remember much about the game. I remember something with an onside kick. Either it was the Del Greco thing or the Bills kicked a surprise one.

I do remember the Oilers picking off Kelly early in the 3rd and returning it for a TD to basically seal the game...err...take a 32 point lead.

I actually have the game still in my collection. I will have to dig it up and check it out. I do remember that the Oilers seemed unbeatable in the first half and I was excited about a possible Texas Superbowl with the Boys and Oilers. The Oilers then were sort of my 2nd team, I always rooted for them when Dallas was not on. I just remember that going into those playoffs, I felt Dallas were not quite there and Houston was, then after the collapse and watching the Cowboys, I knew Dallas would be in the big game.

Didn't we sack Moon 12 times in a game once? Or was that a diff Oilers QB?

Moon was one of the best passers I've ever seen and was super prolific into his 40's. He won 5 Gray Cups in Canada and forced the NFL to take notice and play a black QB whom they knew would be a star and grab lots of attention. Moon played with that pressure and excelled, paving the way for other talented black QB's. If that's not surefire HOF material they should just burn the place down.

Well, if Moon gets in, the case for Bled does get a little stronger.

Moon didn't play in the run and shoot when he was at Minnesota or Seattle and he still put up numbers.

Moon played for years at Houston without the run and shoot. The guy would have been successful with any offense.
