What is wrong with Dak?

I am really not trying to bash Dak here. I genuinely root for him but I've became very frustrated with his play over the years. And he has seemed to have regressed since his rookie season.
Let's break down Dak and evaluate what he does well and what he doesn't do well.

The good:

Throw’s better when he’s on the move.

The bad:

Inaccurate
Poor field vision
Hyper aware of pressure
Can’t throw receivers “open”
Production drops off drastically against zone

Dak plays like a 4th round draft pick against good teams.

He’s right up against his ceiling.

Prescott should just tell Jerry he is not interested in any change to his current contract. Do what he has to do to play it out. And then let the Cowboys move on to Trey Lance. Lance makes Zach Wilson look like a Hall of Famer.

Seems to me they would bootleg Dak more like in earlier seasons. And why does Dak rarely run anymore? Even in situations where he really has a good shot of getting lots of yards.

This loss was somehow Dak's fault. I'm still trying to get my head around this one.
The defense lost the game but Prescott didn't win the game. Look at the Giants game the week before. Cardinals scored 28 points and had big leads in both games. They rushed for over 150 yards and Dobbs threw for almost 230 yards yet Daniel Jones was able to help the offense score 31 points in the second half behind a putrid offensive line and pull out the W. DJ actually justified his contract in a game he could help the team win by making enough plays.

No doubt Prescott will ball out against gash teams when the defense dominates creating multiple turnovers and giving the offense outstanding field position...but then a practice squad QB like Cooper Rush wins those games as well as we all saw last season so what's the point paying Prescott? He's like a kid playing QB on his school team because his dad is the coach. All the other kids know he's the weak link on the team but they just have to toe the line as if they say anything (Dez, Cooper, etc) they will be moved on. How much longer will Parsons keep quiet...

The obvious concern this season is when the team falls behind against a good team and Prescott will have to throw the ball further than 5 yards and hold onto the ball for longer than 0.5 seconds. McCarthy will have to just trust Prescott and let him throw some picks in the process and hope he can make some throws otherwise we saw the outcome against a 0-2 team that had lost to the Commanders and Giants.

Read his scouting report.
Inconsistent accuracy
Scott Linehan spotted this right away and developed a offense Dak could thrive within.
However that offense was not sustainable in the NFL. The minute Scott began to move Dak into the pocket, the warts began to show. The first red flag was consistently throwing behind receivers down the middle. He had a solid pocket, but held the ball too long giving defenders time to react.
It's not going to get better, Dak is like scores of college QBs , when there's separation they look awesome.

Unfortunately that separation disappears in the NFL

Agreed. I think he doesn't see the field well. Throws the ball high when he throws off his back foot. Streaky on his accuracy like feast or famine.
Throws well when out of the pocket. Can run when he decides to do it but since his ankle injury he rarely does. Is a good leader.

I would do that. Dak is where he is and he’s hit his ceiling. Lance is an unknown. Lance had one full college season and 4 NFL games. I don’t see why everyone is so quick to dismiss him without seeing him play a down for us.

Dak is in his 8th year, struggles to read defenses, struggles with TOs, plays bad in crucial situations, average to below average accuracy, average arm strength, is regressing.

I’m not saying Lance is the answer or the future but I am saying Dak is NOT the answer. I just assume move on and not resign Dak knowing Dak is not the guy. I would rather lose with a developing QB that struggles with reading defenses, TOs, etc. I’d like to play Lance and see what we got and if he sucks like the 49ers believe and everyone else believes then cool, let’s draft a guy. But Dak is not the guy. Dak is 8 years in and still making rookie mistakes. I’d rather have Lance or another rookie QB making rookie mistakes because there’s a chance Lance or a rookie will learn from those mistakes.

In addition the team can use the money saved from paying Prescott to keep/bring in a couple of blue chip players thus maintaining/strengthening the roster that we have already seen go 5-1 in the last two seasons with a practice squad QB.

He himself mentioned that he might need to run more in the red zone. I hope he does because it makes him a better player and makes the D honor that. Which they haven’t been imo.

Yeah, I recall the beginning of last season. When Dak had somebody work on, his mechanics, said he found more pop on the ball, but overthrowing leads to passes sailing.
I remember KM having a 2nd receiver running a identical route 10 yes deeper than the primary, now I realize why. He must have seen enough sailing balls in practice.
