Just to drop a note of seriousness in the thread, if a teacher went after my son, I'd kick her ***. And take any charges, they'd want to put on me.

Just me, tho.

And I won't mention the double standard going on in this thread...

Understood but what makes this so laughable is that the student was a second year senior, 18 years old, dropped out 2 months before the act and has a 2 month old son with a 23 year old Hooters waitress. Highy doubt this is your typical case of teacher taking advantage of student.

In this case he was an adult age wise. So it is not statutory rape. It is however ethically wrong for the teacher/student relationship.

Something else, just a tidbit of info...I think people would be shocked to know that you don't even have to be 18 in many states to have consensual sex.

There are only 11 states that require someone to be 18 to have consensual sex. 9 States have 17 as the age and 31 have 16 as the age. However, again, it is still ethically wrong for a teacher/student relationship.

We did that with pencils and had about 10 stuck in the ceiling but one of them fell out and one of the guys in our class looked up at the wrong time and caught one in the eye. Went to the hospital and had an eye patch on for about three weeks. He was forever known as Sinbad. Hey we were oin 5th grade at the time.

:laugh2: @ sinbad.

I should not laugh as I got a pencil to the eye incident. Had to go to the doc and stuff, tore some layers in my eye but nothing too bad as I just had to have a patch on a few days and it healed up pretty quick.

I would too, but my son is 8!

Honestly, if you take away the school-teacher vs former student aspect then it really is a non-story and something that happens in every day life.

I briefly dated a 26 year old that I met at work when I was eighteen. It was the summer after I graduated High School. I worked in the hospital cafeteria and she was a nurse. The only big deal was the grief she got when her peers found out (and she dropped me flat very soon after). the police of course did not care.

Serioulsly though....prison time? The kid was 18, not 13.
The stuff people do every day in this country and get a slap on the wrist, and this girl may face prison time. Unreal.

Not the age it is being in a public school. I think if it is a private University, there is no law against that type of relationship, but most likely still rules against the professor.

I just read the Cincy Enquirer article. The guy and his parents are denying and don't want to assist the police. I wonder what kind of evidence they have on her?

I get that....but PRISON? Maybe suspend her teaching license, but prison seems very extreme.

I just read two articles and no where does it give the student's age as being 18. If he is 18, she did not commit a crime.

What the article did say is that it happen when she was teaching at the school, so I'm guessing it isn't something that *just* recently happen. The kid maybe 18 now, but probably wasn't then?

His dad is giving high fives and mother just wants good looking grandkids. Besides, he's an adult, highly unlikely the parents want to drag this girl and their son through the drama of a legal procedure when no one was hurt.

I'm confused at why she was arrested then.

He must of been in class at the time. I'm not sure if it was 2 months before or after he dropped out of school this happened. In Ohio you can drop out at 18 legally.

This just happened to go down (he he) in the same county where my 16 year old niece lives and while she did not know either of them well, she knew of them.

Not sure how relevant this is, but seems to be the general idea.
Link
Ohio,Under Ohio Rev. Code Sec. 2907.03 it is sexual battery for one person to have sexual contact with another if:
1. the offender is a teacher, administrator, coach, or other person in authority employed by or serving in a school subject to state board of education standards, the other person is enrolled in or attends that school, and the offender is not enrolled in and does not attend that school;

Sexual battery is a third degree felony and offenders are subject to imprisonment for one to five years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both. If the other person is under 13, sexual battery is a second degree felony and the court must sentence the offender to imprisonment for two to eight years, and can impose a fine of up to $10,000.

About answers it and because she was arrested it seems he dropped out 2 months after.

The torment from his buddies must of been too much to handle............
