What is wrong with our Educators today?

Ohio,Under Ohio Rev. Code Sec. 2907.03 it is sexual battery for one person to have sexual contact with another if:
1. the offender is a teacher, administrator, coach, or other person in authority employed by or serving in a school subject to state board of education standards, the other person is enrolled in or attends that school, and the offender is not enrolled in and does not attend that school;

Sexual battery is a third degree felony and offenders are subject to imprisonment for one to five years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both. If the other person is under 13, sexual battery is a second degree felony and the court must sentence the offender to imprisonment for two to eight years, and can impose a fine of up to $10,000.

I think this is a stupid law if both are adults and both are consensual.

Get out of school first before doing this. Remember it isn't just these 2 it impacts. It impacts all of her classes and her reputation as someone in authority.

I know I would be asking for my punishment after class. See how that works?

Why was she arrested? The kid is 18. The legal consent age is 17.

And I have to agree.

If they are both adults and it's consensual, I don't think it's the laws place to put restrictions on what they want to do so long as they both are aware of the potential consequences.

That said, she should be fired on spot and never hired as a teacher again.

Never had teachers like that.

Just to drop a note of seriousness in the thread, if a teacher went after my son, I'd kick her ***. And take any charges, they'd want to put on me.

Just me, tho.

Legal concent in ohio is 16. This did not happen 2 years ago.

Statures might be different but in most states if a person has sex with someone under 18 and they are 10 years older than it is is consider sexual abuse. For example if she was 26 yrs old and he was 16 at the time of the alleged sexual encounter than it is consider abuse.
