I'm more disappointed in how badly we pass protect. I think we run the ball alright on most days. There aren't many QBs not named Romo that could survive and even thrive behind this line.

I think people on here vastly underrate Romo agility in the pocket. For all the bad things said about him, if could move arond and create space in the pocket people would be calling the O-lines heads.

Colombo is more physical than Free and probably alot better run blocker, but Free seems to be about the same or maybe even a little better than Colombo as a pass protector.

Gurode's been hurt most of the yr, I think thats had some affect on his level of play, but Davis and Adams have been way too inconsistent. Kosier started out great and seems to have tailed off some IMO.

C'mon man... it's so much more fun to rant and rave about firings and benchings and losers and the greener grass everywhere else than talk about that. :)

Is this Houck or our lumbering linemen ?

Houck's been an elite OL coach for a L O N G time, and has coached many of the best OL at some point or another, so I doubt its him.

They aren't mauling people for one. JG I think has brought more of a finesse style of offense to the Cowboys, instead of a smash mouth, beat them down style that maybe these guys can play with better.

The-O-line is also getting older, and yes, defiinately missing Colombo for the sake of just knowing the player. Free is holding his own, he is just the new guy.

Kosier.... LOL, This guy is getting ripped on alot. But, Two Words..

Cory Procter.. Anyone remember last season with him in the line up?

I agree with they aren't being used correctly. And there isn't enough nasty on the O-line.

If a defense sets out to stop your running game they can do it. NY came into the Dallas game looking to stop the run they did this by running a lot of run blitzes at Dallas, face it when you see numbers in the 20 hitting the back in the back field and at the line of scrimmage it should tell you they are bring people up to stop the run. Dallas combated that by throwing the ball and doing so successfully. In the end the loss came down to some big plays given up by defense and special teams.

i dont think my point came across clearly and im not exactly sure how to explain what i am thinking. i know that we get nice numbers so we must be doing something right as far as the running game goes, but im not sure if i trust our team to pick up the yardage on a third and 2 or 3 on the ground.

Like i said in my last post, it seems like we are an all or nothing running team. we'll get 10 yards then 0 and that'll average to 5 but we dont seem to be able to pick up 4 yards here and 6 there.

im probably not making my point any better/clearer and i may be completely off base. if so, then by all means let me know because my perception may be off.

It sure feels that way in many of the games. Have no idea if the hard numbers back it up. Of course the debacle from the last game is fresh in our minds.

With so much beef in the line & 2 good blocking TEs and hard running RB ,we can't move the pile for 4-5 yards every time ? Go figure .:(

It deserpately misses Colombo.
And the rest are mediocre. After that, depth is like zero.
This offseason, man, we need to pick up a couple of colombo-like athletes for the collapsing Oline.

We need to hit on some winners quick. Draft or younger free agents. Whatever. Get them in here. We have a quickly aging oline that is only so-so to start with. With a QB like Romo it is important to give him every chance possible. Don't want to waste the last 5-6 years of his career running for his life.

Knowing Jerra (well, figuratively, we rarely dine together or drink beer at the lake) he will try to act the "football guy" and draft some O linemen.
but we have no time to develop these draftees.
Yes, hit the free-agent market and get them ready to go by September.
And keep Hudson Houck when Wade is shown the door.

I thought I heard Schlereth say the OL was being used improperly, too much zone blocking when they are really a power man blocking unit. Maybe it was Herm Edwards.

Sounded wrong to me b/c Houck is not a zone blocking guy. Can anyone confirm if the Cowboys are using more zone blocking now then when Sporano was here, if at all?

Dan Reeves said the exact same thing during the Oakland game. He wondered why we were running so many zone schemes when our line is built for power and our power plays were working much better.

Yikes. I still think Jerry made a big mistake w/Reeves. His steadying presence would have been appreciated right now. Say what you want about Reeves 0-fer in championship games, but the guy was Landry-esque in the postseason.

Lets look at these guys. I always thought that Flozell and Gurode were overhyped. I dont know when it happened but these guys havent done much since they have been here. Sure they can make some plays when they want to. The problem is they arent consistent and I think as they go Kosier goes, thats why we have problems and at times Bigg will space too....Thats a recipe for disaster when it all comes together like that. I can definitely say by the end of the year these guys are broken down and they have been a big problem the past few years in December and January. Time to move a few of them out. Jerry sees some big plays from some of them and gets excited then gives them 10 million! Just another one of his problems as a GM....you need consistent play and we dont have it. Hence the 2 yards a carry average last week.

The talent on the O Line like much of the rest of the team is vastly overated.
