What is wrong with this Defense???? *Merge*

Last week, they couldn't stop the run. This week, they couldn't stop the pass. Both weeks, they couldn't get to the QB.

To figure this out, we have to look at what has changed from last year. Was Greg Ellis the difference maker? Surely not slow, old Anthony Henry! Was Brian Stewart better better than all of us thought? Maybe Spears was a silent mega-stud (obviously the Giants thought so).

We were so happy to be rid of all those guys, but were they the difference?

The defense struggled with the same thing this week as they did last week. Passes over the middle and short slants. Last week the Bucs passing game was overshadowed by the run, but they did the same thing. This team has gotten killed by three step drops, missed tackles, and lack of QB pressures for like three years now.

Neither Eli or Leftwich had to make a good throw because they had the first read wide open the majority of the time. There isn't a QB in the league that can't complete the passes that Eli did last night.

All game long they left people wide open. They did the same thing last week. What kind of crap is Campo teaching them? This is ridiculous.

It's a good thing we have Newman back there to teach all the young guys how to do it.

From what I can see they are soft, play with little passion and cannot execute the basic fundamentals. You rarely see any of the corners touch anyone inside five yards and there blitzes seem predicatable. Maybe marshmellow Phillips should consider using the Jets "scramble" defense and make his corners play physical (if he knows the word) at the line of scrimmage.

Could not agree more.. i posted the following in an angry mood last night but i believe it is true...

'Look.. i get so frustrated.

We cannot tackle and we are not physical!

I don't know who taught our team technique but they forgot the basics.

Few, if any, tackle properly.. head up, through the players, wrap up etc..

Know why this team doesn't force turnovers, despite the large number of sacks.. we don't hit!.. we don't try to strip, we are just a soft soft team ,and have been one for sometime.

Look at Johnsons' Cowboys.. talented yes, but physical, you bet.

Woodson, Washington, Norton etc.. arggh.. i just don't think we are being taught to play in a hard hitting physical manner.'
