what is your draft day routine?

will Dale be in the chat room during this draft?

I'm going to have pudding.

Well, come to think of it, that's pretty much the same as every other day, so NM!

Well, I am breaking routine this year and going to the Draft. It will be my first time in NYC.

Day 1 Juke99 and hopefully MichaelWinicki are going to the Draft with me. Day 2 Jarv is going with me.

My normal routine is that several friends come to my house and we BBQ and razz each other all day. There's always a pool going on of some kind about the 1st round. We also play pool, throw darts, and eat ourselves silly. We've had as many as 16 here, and as few as 3. It just depends.

My wife and daughters usually go away that Saturday, making it a guy's time.

For the last 2 years Dale has been at Valley Ranch and we've had an amazing experience in our Chat Room with his reports. They've been right on the money every time.

Yeah man....My 1st time there. Took my daughter to Ringling Brothers once for her B-day during the old days when the draft was in the garden. Closest I ever got. She didn't want to give up the circus for the draft...

But should be a real cool experience.

You newcomers have to get in touch with me before you go, we'll meet up.

I like to get started with some pre-game stuff on the local 1310 the ticket with Norm and Mickey. (they are the best) Then I turn it to ESPN, (since Charter doesn't have the NFL Network:mad: ) and watch ESPN while listening to the ticket.

It's sort of like a sports Christmas, because fans get to get new presents this year.

I have to work on draft day, so I call my wife about every 30 minutes and have her read off the bottom line ticker to me until I get home (@12:30 PST) then it's all draft all day!

SS

1) turn on computer
2) draw the shades
3) take phone off the hook
4) turn on tv
5) weep at the ensuing idiocy

Wake up early. Get a case of Rolling Rock. Put it on ice to get it nice and perfect. Get some pizza. Invite friends over. Drink, eat pizza, and play pool all day watching the draft.

Wake up at 3 p.m after a night (and morning) of drinking and attempted dancing. Turn on TV, find out what crap the Giants have done. Go back to sleep. Always happens somehow.

I think this year will be different. I hope. My friends are married now.: :(

Usually I have the ESPN on and am glued to the computer for both days -- reading 10-15 scouting reports on every drafted player.

this year though, i'll be at a conference that weekend (every 3-4 years I have this unfortunate scheduling conflicing). but I plan to skip many of the saturday sessions and set up a version of my "war room" at the hotel. really that means I'm running back to the room every 45 minutes or so to get an update. this site really got me through a similar situation back in 2003. I'll be checking in all day.

I'm going backpacking for 4 days in Big Bend N.P. !
I'll know nothing of the draft until mid-day Tuesday . :-(

As I mentioned in another thread, I unfortunately scheduled a vacation for the last weekend in April, a weekend getaway with my wife to Paris. I didn't even think to check the NFL schedule (I never remember the draft being held this late). I found a loyal Cowboys fan to volunteer to send me text messages after each pick, thankfully (though my wife is sure to wonder why I will be checking my phone every 15 minutes while sipping some wine in a cafe - 6 hour time difference, I'll probably be at dinner)

Sitting on my throne, perched in front of my big screen watching the draft in it's entirety in total isolalation for two days.:laugh2:

Get up late, Turn on the TV , look for sumthing to eat and watch most of the first day. then i dunno...:laugh2:

Yes sir

Only two of us have Die Hard tickets this year (stay both days end to end), so I'll be sitting pretty when I stroll in at 10 or 11 am.

The rest of the group (2 Cowboys fans, 1 Vike, 1 Broncos, 1 Giants, 6 Jets, maybe a Bears fan) have to wait in line.

Last year the line starting forming that Friday night around 10pm.

Every year the line starts up earlier and earlier. At MSG it was at about 3am.

This is why I stay both days. Brought school work with me last year to study for finals. Haha

Been there did that. Can't remember how many times in the 90's my friends and I waited outside the Marriott Marquis in the Early am.
Then it shifted to the Garden - not as good.
Now it's moved onto Raido City Music hall.

If you have some connections they may be able to get you friends of the NFL tickets - get's you in. Dale may have a person to contact on this.

Wear you team jerseys as this - if you even care at all - can get you on TV if you make a lot of noise as a group.

It's a long day. If you are driving in. As you come out of the Lincoln tunnell - middle tube - you will bear to the left. Go to the end where there is a buliding blocking you way. This is a parking garage. You may want to just put you car here.

Hopefully you bring a chair or something to sit on. Be aware of the weather and be ready. I do not know if they have anywhere for you to sit in a covered area or inside. They to catch some Z's while in line as once your up and moving it may get too busy.
Have someone in the group dump the chairs back at the car.
They may put you through a metal detector so only bring plastic things.

I don't know if they stop you from bring food in as they did allow me the last time - but times change.

The place will empty out - Giant and Jet fans will leave - about 4:30pm to 5:00pm. This is about how long most people can take it.

Bring your draft guides and be ready to have at their pick contest.

Play 18 holes in the morning before the draft come home have breakfest, log on the internest go to NFL.com and tune into ESPN.

Definitely, always a good thing to meet a Cowboys fan.

I'm not sure how they will do the seating this year. At MSG it was just Die Hards sat closer. At Javit's, the main room with ESPN, interns, Tags was Die Hards, they have a 2nd room for everyone else and they had a TV to watch it on (large one of course), but they got to meet Vilma, DJ Williams, and some others.

I know it'll be me, the other die hard Cowboys fan, and then there was this guy and his son that we hung out with last year.

Hopefully since Radio City can easily fit everyone, they let everyone in one area. There's always fan grouping, and of course, a large Cowboy contingent always forms. :starspin

Who decides if you're a Die Hard and get to sit close. What does a fan do to be considered Die Hard?

Turn on ESPN, Turn on the ticket web radio, log into cowboyzone and also go into the chat room where it sounds like a tourrettes convention depending on what player is picked or not picked.

Okay that weekend we've been looking forward to since the end of the season is almost here....what is your Saturday routine? Keep track online? Watch it alone? Sports bar? Special snacks? Get rid of the wife and kids? LOL Share your day................

a bunch of us get together on draft day and have a barbecue and a keg. there are fans of steelers, cowboys, skins and philty and ravens. we play a game. we have a pool, you pay a $1 to enter and name the player that you guess will be taken at the spot. if you are the only one who gets it right then you take the pool, otherwise all the money goes to the next pick next guess.

at most you lose $32 if you didn't win anything. there is about 10 of us that play so the money adds up real quick, since the top 10 usually have a lot of people guessing right. about 15 th pick on it gets real exciting. its fun and it makes the draft go faster and more fun.
