what is your draft day routine?

Well, usually it is take up my whole Saturday waiting for the next pick and a lot of talking heads in between. This year it will be much different. I will wait 2 hours while setting my TIVO up and then start watching for a couple of hours and fast forward through all the junk - probably watch 4 hours of coverage in 2. Then flip back and tape again and stop watching for another 2 hours.

I love TIVO!!!!

Draft day is a helluva better day than Father's day! I go down to my basement, turn on my Sony 60" Grand Wega SXRD HD, lock the back door, make sure my cell phone is handy (to call upstairs and have my wife bring me more food), drag out all my paperwork for draftees with Rick Gosselin's mock draft on top, make sure all my telephone numbers are lined up for discussion with many Cowboy fans across the country (especially my kids who are scattered all over the place), make sure my Diet Dr. Pepper(s) are close at hand with a bowl of popcorn, prop my feet up, turn the lights down low and then instantly fall asleep for a one hour power nap!:D It's the same thing Sunday but at least I get up and move around a little bit more! I wish I could go to NYC and meet up with all you young posters!;)

I usually look at the draft order. Then I try to find a bar that has a bunch of fans of a team that is drafting early and go there to get some food and watch that team draft. If the team makes an unpopular or stupid decision, you're looking at comedy GOLD.

My favorite was in 2004 I was at a place filled with Giants fans. They knew they were going to trade for Eli, but they didn't know what they were going to give up for him. Tags announced the Giants give up their first and third along with next year's first and third (Tags had it wrong. It was a first and third for next year's first and fifth.)

Some Giants fan comes running in and in a thick Brooklyn accent yells "WHAT THE <expletive> DID THEY DOOOO?!?!?!?!?"

After that, I usually head back to watch it at home and barely leave the house while talking to friends over the phone and on the net while eating nachos, hot dogs, pizza, and whatever that's bad for you.

Rich..........

1) turn on computer
2) draw the shades
3) take phone off the hook
4) turn on tv
5) weep at the ensuing idiocy

chat room where it sounds like a tourrettes convention depending on what player is picked or not picked.

Who was it that went ballistic four or five years ago on a pick?

I realize this has happened quite often, but I seem to remember one incident in particular.

For the past 2 years, I've been attending the Cowboys annual draft party at Gilley's of Dallas. I'll be doing the same this year. It is a great time. I get to meet and greet players, eat and drink, and watch the draft with my fellow Cowboys fans.

Players attend? Like who? If you don't mind me asking.

I know the time you speak of but to be honest the name completely escapes me now.

I know wolverine or HH31 was having a fit last year every time a name was called that was not a WR :laugh2:

Who decides if you're a Die Hard and get to sit close. What does a fan do to be considered Die Hard?

You have to be there for the whole of day 2. End to end, they give you a sheet to fill out then hand in.

After two years ago where people where walking in during the mid 7th and getting Die Hard tickets, they changed it to at the start of day 2 you get the form, at the end you hand it in.

I'm sure they'll repeat that again this year.

Used to be two tickets per Die Hard, now it's 1 per 1 and you need photo ID this year they say.

One of the classic meltdowns of all time.

I miss JDnalls. Wish he'd come back and post here. Was a good guy.

One of these days I'm going to make a thread about all the entertaining posters who are no longer around and see if anyone knows if some are still doing well.

Drink cold beer and eat pizza with friends while sitting next to the computer watching the T.V. listening to the radio

Get up, drink a bunch of beer and watch the draft, order pizza, drink a bunch more beer. Puke and go to sleep, LOL.

It'd be nice to be able to eat pizza while watching the draft. I'm kind of jealous. Last year Javit's sold hot dogs. MSG never had pizza. Mmm lol
