Don’t think they loved Johnson game.

Johnson doesn’t catch passes well and run routes. They wanted somebody more explosive
Meh, the kid showed what he could do...rarely him caught from behind after he broke past the kill zone. Decent receiver, I think the concerns were more around his pass protect.

Legit RB1 (or WR2) was the right call there...not an oft-injured CB.

I went B+.

I will say Jerry has to STOP trading our 4th round picks in season for players that can’t play. I’m fine with it if you get me a starter. For the past two drafts the run on RB’s have been in the 4th and it’s killing us….
I agree I was hoping for Judkins in the 2nd round and then I expected Dallas to trade up into the 4th for a running back.It must have been hard to find a trade partner. What do you think about Blue and Mafah with Booker added in at right guard.

A......just me but why are so hard on their Day-3 picks? An interesting nugget from Breer ( who was asking a GM about Shedure still available) where the GM reminded him NO teams go into day 3 expecting the find starters. Those picks are about finding depth and practice-squad players. As with any draft, picks 1-4 are where you better get it right. I think we did that ......100% coz we can expect significant contribution from each pick. Worrying about whether they were drafted a couple of spots too high or too low doesn't seem important to me.
I am pleased with this draft haul, Dallas should be able to run the ball Booker looks like a good pick at right guard .The first 3 picks are first round players Jaydon Blue is fast and can run between the tackles and catch the football.

C+.
  • Got some quality players..Booker, Ezeiruaka, Blue, Toia...who can help immediately.
  • Got some players who likely won't help this year...Revel, James, Cornelius
  • Some guys who probably won't make the team. Tommy. Mafah.
  • Almost completely ignored the most important needs on this team--RB, WR, Run defense.
  • Is the team significantly better this year? No. Some improvement but that's just because we had basically nobody on our roster.
  • The draft is a long term investment, I get it. So it really hinges on whether Revel ends up being the guy at CB. I don't like drafting an injured guy who can't play yet to replace an injured guy who can't play yet.
Biggest win: Getting Ezeiruaku will improve our defense because we will really get after the QB.
Biggest loss: The offense really isn't that much different. Blue adds some speed, as a role player, but if we don't trade for a starter, we're looking at Javonte Williams being the lead back, who was just as bad as Zeke. We're heading into the season with Mingo as #2, and that's a disaster.
Booker alone will improve the offense

Overall I give them an A-. They added some really good football players, good character guys and good leaders. They didn't address some bigger needs as much as I would've liked but I can't really complain about the guys they took.

I think Booker is a stud and will solidify the interior of the line for the next decade. But, I would not have taken him over Walker. Taking a G at 12 over what could be a stud defensive player at a power 5 position is a mistake IMO. But TBH, other than Jaylon, there wasn't much left to choose from at 12. So if they didn't get a good trade offer I can understand the pick. And again, he's very good for the line and the team. B+

Don EZrockU is a stud pass rusher and makes up for missing on Walker. He easily could've gone in rd 1 so landing him at 44 was a blessing. He instantly adds some serious skill and depth to the DE room. A+

Ravel is an absolute steal at 76. He was considered a top CB prospect by basically everyone. His injury is a concern, but they got the inside scoop from the doc and I feel he will warrant the excitement he brings to the defense. A+

*Mingo is their 4th rd pick. He isn't terrible, but he hasn't lived up to anyone's expectations. I don't have much hope he will do so here. I really wish we would have addressed this position at some point. C-

Blue is a nice late rd RB and gives the offense a much needed weapon. He can be the primary scat back. B

James is an athletic and slippery LB. He can move fairly well, will be a good ST player to start. But he needs to develop better instincts (if that's possible). He a solid mid rd pick with potential to be a contributor beyond STs in the future. Not sure they needed to trade up for him, C+

Cornelius is a good player. Has potential to replace Steele at RT in the future. Gives them even more depth on the O-line, especially at OT, where the depth is questionable. Not sure I would've addressed the O-line as much as they did but can't fault the player. B-

I will admit I didn't know much about Toia before we picked him. But everything I've seen and read since I like. He seems like the kind of guy we need inside to sure up the run defense. He has the power to take on dbls and push the pile. To get him in the 7th seems good. B-

I think the combo of Mafah and Blue is a nice thunder and lightning duo. I had him rated as a late 4, early 5th so to get him mid 7th is a bargain. He can pound the rock inside and gives them a real goal line threat. B+

Akingbesote is another DT I didn't know anything about pre-draft. He appears to have some position flex to move around the line. Gives them some depth inside. I'd like to say that I trust their DT evals but that's not been the case. At least they are trying to add bodies to mix in hopes they hit. C-
