What is your favorite music and why?

I can listen to almost anything except todays hip-hop stuff. When people write lyrics and morph the words form their original sound to make them rhyme. You know you lack real talent.

I used to listen to some old rap, but todays stuff is complete and utter talentless garbage.

I mostly listen to heavy metal. (mostly 70s-80s-90s) I do have a bunch of Bach, Bethoven, Tchaikovsky, and several others that I listen too when I really want to sit quietly alone.

Anything that rocks. I mean real rock not some of the pop crap they call rock.

I like just about everything. Every kind of music has a history and a story behind it that has emotion, hard times, good times, etc. wrapped into it.

Now that doesn't mean that there isn't crap in all genres. The only two genres I can think of that don't have garbage amongst their ranks are jazz and classical.

I love old hip-hop and rap. Back when the words had meaning, and wordplay was a skill that took hard work and thought.

You have to dig nowadays to find the good stuff because it doesn't sell as well, but it's out there. Listen to A Tribe Called Quest?

My music taste has changed a lot through the years. In high school (1984-1988), I listened to a lot of REM and U2, with the Police, the Beatles, CCR, Van Halen, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, the Who, the Doors, Billy Joel, and even Jimmy Buffett (I lived on the Florida coast - it was required) mixed in. When I got to college, I listened to the same stuff, but was also introduced to a wide variety of things that I loved... such as: folk (Harry Chapin, John Prine), Metal (Metallica, Judas Priest), college rock (Uncle Tupelo, Drivin N Cryin, Jason & the Scorchers, JackOPierce), and some country (Sawyer Brown, Randy Travis). Now I listen to a lot of Christian rock. TobyMac is probably my favorite, but I like Jeremy Camp, Fee, Casting Crowns, Lincoln Brewster, David Crowder, etc... lots of good music out there.

If I'm listening to the radio casually, it's mostly Classic Rock.

I like listening to Big Band and standards sound, can me true Big Band or newer artists like Harry Connick, Jr./Michael Buble. I also love acapella vocal music.

Favorite music is Good music! be it country, rock, classical you name it I'm open to it. All except Rap and yet to find anything I like about it.

My father is an enormous Louis L'Amour fan. He has what must be a hundred of his books in his computer room. (they line several bookshelves) I have yet to read one, but if he was that big of a fan of L'Amour, I'm sure they are really good.
Read "Down the Long Hills."

Good music, regardless of genre. What sounds good manages to span everything from classical and jazz, to country and metal, to rock and to rap. If I had to base it on the how large the selection for a particular genre it'd have to be classical, which is pretty general too.

Only one I seem to be almost completely without a liking for is reggae.

Just grabbed it for my Kindle. I will check it out as soon as I finish The girl who kicked the hornet's nest.

Aside from DNB, old-school hip-hop is my favorite. It's a darn shame these kids today don't know anything about real rap. Here's some good n's.
