wish dak was close to romo . at least romo pulled off some game wins despite bad OL and DL, and Romo can read coverages and make plays. Dak is so robotic and has wasted 5 years and counting. The team is not great next year but the last 4 years a top tier QB takes this team to the CCG at least. Heck, Foles won a super bowl with worse talent.

agree, he had some desperation tendencies and risks. but defenses feared him more than they fear dak , which created more running game room . With dak , the field is compressed . 3 targets to Cee Dee against the 49eres??? Amari gone due to lack of targets all season , etc.

No doubt about it, he'd go back to pass, it was hold your breath time. I do not have any stats to prove this but I saw him throw more picks that were made easy for the DB than any other QB. Not as bad as O'Donnell to Brown but they didn't have to move much.

There has never been an edge of your seat QB like him with the Cowboys.

I have all the stats you need, but to some he's some Unicorn after retirement.
There's a list of games he broke hearts in and the team was done for the season. A couple of those games we had the lead, he just blew it.

Any team that would bench their starting QB after the first few games of the season will be looking for a new QB the following season. With the added game the regular season has become even more of a marathon. If you’re benching you’re starting QB after a bad start to the regular season you’re giving up on them and the season.

It wouldn’t even be a question if Baker Mayfield was our backup. No team is going to bench a $40 million per season QB for an up and down, mediocre QB with a losing record.

Prescott could have played better for sure, but he's literally the last ONE player I'd point the finger at. I'd point out the 5 sacks, a dozen penalties and over a dozen pressures but you'll ignore it in hopes of trolling another day.

Not really…it’s uncomfortable but not unheard for a quarterback and something the Cowboys can consider if his form creators. The price for the low 20m cap hits in 2021 and 2022 is that 40m of cap damage is shifted to future years.

So if we cut him post June 1st 2024 we still have to pay that 40m but it’d be an 18m cap hit in 2024 and 22m in 2025. Essentially if Dak isn’t worthy of a starting QB who earninng a 29m base salary we can and should cut him post June 1st 2024.

The no trade/franchise clause does kill any leverage and the potential of getting draft picks though which makes it a pretty horrible deal IMO.

The likely strategy being tank 2024, clear cap space and get a rookie QB in the top 5 of the 2025 draft.

I'm not so sure about that. I think the dead cap for 2024 does not include the void years. I'm not positive. Are those dead caps including the void years?

Ever since the league shifted to pass heavy you see more and more people talking about quarterbacks like they're pitchers in baseball. You hear it all the time. Wins and losses. How many times you hear Matt Stafford never won anything? With no regard to the team around them.

I think there could be some discussion about it if the Cowboys happen to start 0-3.
