How has every season turned out with Dak as the starter?
As well as every season with Tyron and Martin and Dez and Romo and every other player for the past 25 years.

wish dak was close to romo . at least romo pulled off some game wins despite bad OL and DL, and Romo can read coverages and make plays. Dak is so robotic and has wasted 5 years and counting. The team is not great next year but the last 4 years a top tier QB takes this team to the CCG at least. Heck, Foles won a super bowl with worse talent. As well as every season with Tyron and Martin and Dez and Romo and every other player for the past 25 years.

Surprised to see your assessment of Dak way ahead of Romo . The mechanics , accuracy and defense reading were Romo’s strong points , and are Dak weaknesses . Dak simply cannot dissect defenses and has shown a heavy reliance on safe short passes . Have you seen his playoff games or his games against good defenses ? He folds so quickly and gets rattled . He even admitted this last season , which he called a big chunk of it a slump . It was simply a slump against good teams .I mean in terms of being a QB Dak isnt close to Romo, he is drastically ahead of him. Romo was given great weapons his entire career and a great OLine later in his career which helped him look better than he was. It does show though that wins are not a QB stat, they are a team stat.
The no trade/tag clause was horrible business if your the Cowboys, and why a lot of the "Dak hate" is so prevalent, horrible contract. Not really…it’s uncomfortable but not unheard for a quarterback and something the Cowboys can consider if his form creators. The price for the low 20m cap hits in 2021 and 2022 is that 40m of cap damage is shifted to future years.
So if we cut him post June 1st 2024 we still have to pay that 40m but it’d be an 18m cap hit in 2024 and 22m in 2025. Essentially if Dak isn’t worthy of a starting QB who earninng a 29m base salary we can and should cut him post June 1st 2024.
The no trade/franchise clause does kill any leverage and the potential of getting draft picks though which makes it a pretty horrible deal IMO.
The likely strategy being tank 2024, clear cap space and get a rookie QB in the top 5 of the 2025 draft.

Good points and romo did over do it sometimes . But do you really think Dak has the accuracy and defense reading ability to be compared to the top tier QBs? I have a feeling Dak has become even more limited after his injury as the scrambling is less than an option. He made many errant throws and many rushed throws as he gets happy feet very quickly, at important moments. After 6 years , it is what it is.If you are going to talk playoffs and Romo that is going to be an ugly conversation. It is concerning how over the past 20 years though that Dallas has a tendency, regardless of who is at QB, to fold on offense and make dumb mistakes (Lamb not being able to catch is getting frustrating fast).
However your assessment of Romo as a QB overall is not right. He was a gunslinger who has a tendency to force the ball down the field and that lead to a LOT more turnovers. That is not how you win in the NFL. You win in the NFL by getting yards and scoring points. That is what Dak excels at. You call those checkdowns but if a checkdown 7 on a 3rd and 5 is still a first down. That is why Dak 3 years ago matched Romos career best in yards. It is why 2 years ago he was on pace to shatter the NFL record before his injury; this is because you do not need to force it down the field. The modern NFL QB is someone who can move and has an arm like Rodgers or Mahomes but actually plays like Drew Brees. That is what works. That is the mold of the top-tier QB.
This is purely hypothetical. And for us, we think, at least, worst case scenario.
I think there could be some discussion about it if the Cowboys happen to start 0-3.
But what kind of start would it take for the Cowboys to bench Dakota?
Do you think it's possible that he loses three games in a row, to start, and then remains a starter?

I just can't believe we are having this discussion. I was the most " do not sign Dak to this contract" guy.
Unfortunately we are stuck with him for several years and there is no viable option behind him.
He is a good QB, with the likes of Cousins, better than Wentz,JimmyG, Goff. Not a franchise guy. Still the best qb in our division, but he will never be Mahomes, Watson, Burrow, Herbert, Brady, Wilson, Rodgers ( not in any order)
The better question for you is what type of horrible start would you have no issues living through if it meant Dak was replaced?
We don't have anyone on the roster better than Dak, so that's not what I'm hoping.
As far as benching Dak, it's more a motivational tactic than actually pulling him.
Dak has proven himself.... My biggest want for Dak is for him to turn the hump and increase his winning percentage against teams with winning records. That's my biggest knock on Dak, personally. And that's what worries me about being able to make a playoff run.
