What line issue is worse?

Travis Fredbeard going down before the season opener is a large reason why Zeke struggled early and Dak has been the most sacked QB in the NFL this year.

Looney has been an above average NFL center all season.

The weakness on the line this year has been the mental mistakes from Collins and Tyron Smith.

I would say missing Frederick.
Those pocket collapsing sacks are happening way too often.
It’s not Looney - Su’a-Filo struggled Thu nite and Collins is a disaster of epic proportions in pass pro. He needs to be back at LG and either plug C-Will in at RT next season or sign best FA RT to hit the market once the window opens.

You are a negative person. I think that most of your statements are false.

What line issue is worse? The boys are grinding it out
in your opinion what line issue is worse here is it the fact that Fredrick has been gone all year ? I am not crapping on Frederick, Looney has exceeded my expectations, He looks like a pro-bowler. He hustles, gets to the second level, uses power in the run game.

Is it Tyron be often injured? The line play is fine, Dallas has one of the best lines in the game. Tyron is injured, however he has been outstanding. He is not at the level he once was, However, his play is better than all of the LTs in the NFL.

Or is it the turnstile at RT? Free was a liability. Collins is a beast. However, you my friend are really stupid.

I also believe early on Williams was a liability Conner is a rookie, He looked great on most plays but struggled with elite players. Conner will mature mentally. He exceeded my expectations.

Now I and a lot fans know and understand Dak at times holds on to the ball to long so if we can leave that narrative to the side for this thread I think there’s still enough of those threads already bn discussed. Yet another dumb attempt to turn on the Dak hate.

I never realized the loss of Leary was going to be that huge or free retiring-but this line has played so different for the better part of a year. Leary is gone and when he left Dallas his level of play dropped. He has been plagued by injuries. Dallas made the correct move. Get over it.

Now Columbo may have them trending up but in my opinion this is the biggest issue on offense not the only but the biggest and the coaching staffs refusal to adjust accordingly with play calling. Another dumb statement, the staff changes plays constantly.
.
Our red zone offense is pathetic. You have issues, you should jump on the Eagles bandwagon or maybe the saints, Have fun.

Enjoy the win.

Nice try at a thread attempting to smash Jerry, Dak, and/or Jason.
He’s not being negative. He asked a very reasonable question. Right now, the Offensive line is the weak link on this team. If it does not improve we will not be a factor in the playoffs. Our predictable offensive play calls make it more difficult for our O line, but that being said, they need to improve with their pass blocking. This O line gives up way to many pressures and sacks!!! Dak does hold the ball to long on occassion, but again the major issue is the O line!!

People talk about the impact of Amari Cooper, but the truth is that the hiring of Hudson Houck mid-season has had the biggest impact. Cowboys line is playing well with 3 x backups.
The O line played terrible in the 2nd half vs NO’s. Go back and watch the game. We got shut out in the 2nd half because of the O line. We won only because our D dominated!!!

Tyron being oft injured. Williams will improve with strength and conditioning. His youth and inexperience is the liability. Both strength, and inexperience will improve for Williams. Pinched nerves, bad backs rarely improve. Freddy hurts big time too. Tyron back= Freddy disease in hurt

It’s a combination of all things. There’s no one single thing to point to,because you had injuries, lack of personnel,to just bad coaching. They need to address it more in the off-season,either in the draft or via FA though. This is two straight years of it being unstable, and undisciplined. It’s really only because Dak is built like a dumpster truck that he isn’t on IR. And i’m just talking about the line itself, aside from Dak. They get blown up inside every game. Straight shoot up the middle and he’s just backpedaling,or guys coming around the edges unblocked. You can’t have that + injuries + penalties + poor coaching issues all at the same time too. That’s a recipe for disjointed chaos, and that’s exactly what they’ve gotten the last two years from it.

I completely agree 100% with this post, I have been saying this ALL YEAR and towards the later part of last year. This has been THE MAJOR ISSUE aside from play calling that's caused our offense to be extremely poor. It's had a trickle down effect on the entire offense.

Linehan has completely loss all faith in running inside the 5. It's pathetic. Not sure who is more gutless. Him or Carrothead. :banghead:

In what word is Collins a turnstile? That’s a completely false narrative.

Tyron being hurt sucks but if your team can’t sustain a 2-3 week injury the front office failed from day 1. Luckily we’ve been fine there.

The biggest issue is LG. Connor had a few glaring issues early on and SuaFilo was garbage last game. If he looks the same against the eagles I’d have a quick hook and put Connor back in. I thought Connor gave up a few easy pressures early on, but not nearly as bad as everyone made him out to be

Missing Smith, LT is the most critical for protection of QB Blindside..

Agreed. Fumbling around in the dark in 2017, experimenting at LG and RT leaving both sides weakened. Yep Doug Free retiring didn't help but that was 2017. A year later, Smiths back is still wonky, stingers, elbow, he's a beat up warrior. Freddy, may never play again, no one knows. Collins just adequate at RT and Williams needing to "grow into LG". Flemming looking awful at LT all be it an improvement on Chaz, maybe. Never got a chance to see that kid from KC play. As you say "disjointed chaos"

I’d like to see them try

TSmith - LCollins - TFrederick - ZMartin - CWilliams

Backup C/G - Looney
Backup OT - Fleming

Collins is athletic, buthis power and desire to be aggressive would be better at LG
CWilliams has the athleticism and length to play well at OT, and while he’s going to get stronger, he doesn’t need to be as powerful at RT.

Dak holds onto the ball FAR too long. Most of the sack issue is a result of that.

cowboys OL was great in 2016...it was the best run blocking team, but 12-15 range pass blocking. this year we struggled when the run blocking wasn't as effective but since we have gotten better run blocking the team has seen more success and zeke has played out of this world. pass blocking has been about the same all year..... this is a run first offense. ...... Williams couldn't quite get the push necessary on running plays and I think his better position is outside at RT, since he has better technique, although not as strong and better feet than Collins...Collins is a bit of a mauler with less technique and better suited to the inside. Williams also got over powered by bigger DTs which led to pressure from inside and he won't have to deal with that as much as a RT....that's why we have seen the team perform better with Sua although his feet fail him at times.

so maybe next year we will see a switch and bring Collins to LG and Williams to RT and things might get better at pass protection.

We are on a 4 game win streak. Where is the problem? No game is ever going to be perfect so stop nitpicking. Joe Looney is filling in just fine for Fredbeard. Fleming is filling in for Tyron just fine. Dak... okay maybe he needs a better QB coach but he's getting the job done and he's getting better since we acquired Coop. Cheer up and accept the fact that our imperfect Cowboys are winning, despite their warts.

Ok maybe the style isn’t the right word but he is defiantly imo the weakest link on the line and the reason for more than a few of Daks sacks and fumbled

I think many would agree on that Chuck. I really hope Freddy plays again. Maybe we'll know the team thoughts on that after the draft. Looney is a good enough backup, not good enough starter. I see the interior D line and O-line being continuing needs. We tried to address the O-line needs in FA this spring but injuries and losing Freddy has been huge. How many sacks have they given up? Granted some of them may be on Dak but I ain't standin in there surveying the field with the pocket disintegrating either. Hope dat Dak dude has life insurance or limb insurance at the least

Ok sir elaborate then . The fact that Tyron is injured again?
Or you think our turnstile is great?

Or we don’t miss at tfred? Or you don’t think Williams was a liability early on?
Or you don’t think our red zone offense is pathetic?
Or the coaches don’t put Dak in position to be successful?

Or our line hasn’t changed since the departure of Leary and Free?

Because if none of those ring semi true with you then I guess I am to assume you believe that all the blame falls on 1 person

Leary was lost due to salary demands...leading to next season and a grand journey about to be taken. Injuries or not.

Three starters from last season, are currently not in the mix...Smith, Frederick, and last season's left guard.

Take the pure dominance offensive line of 1992, and replace three of them...one doesn't have a shaker full of problems? Sure one does...and that shows right now as well.

This backup center is a strong piece, but he's not Frederick. Frederick's return shall be significant.

Both tackles need to return to dominance, as does left guard.
