Neither position would take a beating as much as a running back would. Wasting Elliotts carries in pre-season, especially if he has a hamstring issue just doesn't make sense. He's a running back, it is the easiest position to jump from college to the pros. He doesn't need a lot of time and missing a two weeks of camp and a couple preseason games where he wouldn't have gotten many carries won't do much to set him back.

He was already named the starter. He has shown the coaches enough.
You realize he isn't getting snaps because of his hamstring right? Otherwise he would be...like gusy like Todd Gurley....and I dunno...guys like Alfred Morris.

He better be special after what I saw from Ramsey in his first few snaps. Dallas could sure you that type of talent in it's secondary.

As was mentioned during this past game, Zeke has the ability to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball. He has very good size and strength yet also has excellent speed.

I discount all the long runs you see in college highlights. In all honestly, the majority of long runs in the pros are due to a mistake by the defense. What I look for is a guy who turns a 0 yard run into a two yard gain, a 2 yard run into a 5-6 yard run, etc. Last year we didn't have physical runners and they didn't get these tough yards. It was the biggest mistake of the offseason imo. This year we should have two runners who are powerful runners. I am expecting continued body blows with Zeke and Morris that just wears down a defense and breaks their will. It needs to be depressing when you do everything right on a play to snuff a run play only to have that play gain 3 yards.

One thing that stands out about Zeke to me is his goalline running. Most of his opponents were overmatched against OSU, but Zeke seems to get that one yard easily and at times is 3-4 yards in the endzone on a goal line play. In this aspect, he reminds me of Emmitt on short yardage. Time will tell if Zeke can do this in the pros though.

Then there seems to be some RB who make defense have lots of mistakes. It is no accident that guys like Peterson who hits a lot of big runs. I do agree that a great back can also take what looks to be a negative play and turn it into positive yards but their is a long list of great RB who had the ability to bust the big runs consistently

Zeke is more like a supercharged version of the complete but less flashy backs that get drafted outside the first round. He's more similar to Matt Forte than TRich or McFadden or Bush. Those guys were all speed or all power or all flash, Zeke is just butter smooth.
