What makes Jerry think his way of doing business is good?

Jerry thinks he is the smartest person in the room. That simple.

Considering the pile of cash he is sitting on (his measure of success) no one will ever convince him otherwise.
Who doesn't know this already?? But I guess it had to be said again.
Close the thread now. The correct answer has been given!

We've had no success winning games, playoffs, Superbowls etc. this will be the 30th year since our last Superbowl if I'm correct.

The way Jerry did things back then worked, but he's taken on a new approach, stay still, low ball everyone, and a Superbowl will come to you! This is not the Jerry who if Tyreek Hill were a great player back then and really wanted to be a Cowboy, Jerry would have at least talked to him!

Jerry's way of doing things these days are doing more hurt than they are good. It's a broken record talking about him, but in our hearts we want what Jerry doesn't want, we want that championship!!!

His way of doing business has been more successful than any other owner in the NFL. You’re measuring ‘business’ by wins and losses, but that’s not how businesses are evaluated. Businesses are evaluated on revenue, profit, and goodwill. He’s grown the Cowboys into the most valuable sports franchise on the globe. That’s ‘business’, and he does it better than anyone.

Also, the notion that Jones isn’t interested in winning can only be adopted by either the ill-informed or the obtuse. Because it hasn’t happened doesn’t mean he isn’t interested in it happening. Do you drive the car that you’d most like to own? Maybe you do, but most people don’t. It doesn’t mean they aren’t interested in owning that car, dating that girl, living a certain type of lifestyle, etc.

For the umpteenth time, I can’t imagine being a fan of a sports team and complaining so much about that team. This forum is full of folks like that. Jones isn’t going anywhere. His sons aren’t going anywhere. This is how the team will be run far into the foreseeable future. If you don’t like it, hop off. My daughter’s favorite team is whoever is winning the most season to season. I think you and many like you would be much happier football fans if you adopted her philosophy.

why does he think his way of business is doing good?

we are the most profitable NFL franchise. we are the most valued sports franchise in the world.

convince me if I invest more that I am guranteed a contract and profits remain high? he loves the camera, he has a big ego and he is succeeding as a business person. why change?

maybe something finally clicks in his brain that I really want to get a ring before I go on to you know where

Because money is all that matters and he is the best at it.

the way we win Superbowls every year, I guess you're right!
And that’s how most of the fans think, it’s about the championships. I don’t care how many winning seasons you have. I want that ring. I want to know that we can win every single game when we step on that field. And that’s what Jerry has given us. Yes that ring that elusive ring would be nice

I don’t know why people think Jerry doesn’t want that ring. It drives him insane how bad he wants that ring and maybe that’s why it’s not coming. Sometimes you try too hard for something get out of the way. Let other people do their job.

Jerry is a talented businessman but he is admittedly lucky. The Dallas-Fort Worth area has been arguable the fastest growing market over the last 30 years.

Finally someone who gets it. I been trying to explain this for a long time.
Fans are set in their ways, and will not listen to reason. They only want reasons to vent. And the is to vent about the man in power. Yes it ultimately is on him.
But he does want to win, regardless of his financial success. It is stupid for anyone to believe otherwise.
If they do understand this, they will not admit it. Because it is ultra cool to bash.

I have a friend, goes by your daughters philosophy. He only follows winning teams. Then claims he always liked those teams. I call him out on everyone every time.
He is a huge Texas Longhorns fan, to the point of obnoxious. But last year, it was...oh, I always like Michigan, a few years back, oh I always liked Alabama, or same, he always liked KC, or SF, or now Philly. In my 27 years I known him I told him, he never ever mentioned those teams until they won.

What makes Jerry think his way of doing business is good?

"His way of doing business" made the Cowboys the most valuable sports franchise in the world for almost a decade and put him in the NFL HOF.
He's got the reality of success and the honors of success.

That’s a very untrue observation. If Jerry could buy a ring, he would.
Untrue? Nobody in the NFL is better at making money than Jerry. That is a fact. And money being the only thing that matters to NFL owners is a fact. Fans like to think that winning is more important than money but that is not what todays NFL is. At one time in NFL past history winning was more important but now the NFL is all about the money. I know fans hate it and can't wrap thier head around that but yes money is more important to the NFL than winning.

Yup. Why do you think the refs continually make calls to keep games close? To keep fans tuned in as it equals more advertising money. Blowouts = less money.

This is an altered recollection of what actually happened. "The way Jerry did things back then?"

Jimmy Johnson was primarily responsible for why the franchise was so successful back then. What he created was so well constructed that it successfully carried over two more seasons.

The only significant contribution Jerry Jones made 'back then' was luring Deion Sanders (with a seven-year, $35 million dollar contract) away from Dallas' only real conference competitor at the time. Maybe that is an example of what Jones did back then that might work now..?
Overpaying Deion was a big reason the team fell apart.

He is a great Business man.

Horrible GM.

What else is their to talk about.

Who hired Jimmy?
Jerry Jones.

Additional questions:

Who hired Barry Switzer, who barely coached Jimmy Johnson's team to another Super Bowl win?

Who hired Chan Gailey and gave him only two seasons before pink slipping him?

Who hired Dave Campo, a coach so revered by his players that they pantsed him?

Who hired Bill Parcells and proceeded to not get fully out of his way (i.e. Terrell Owens)?

Who hired a barely wet behind the ears Jason Garrett as his offensive coordinator savant before hiring his Wade Phillips as his head coach a month later?

Who kept Jason Garrett around four years longer than Johnson? Five years longer than Switzer? Seven years longer than Gailey? Six years longer than Campo (who at least had much more coaching experience before getting the gig)? Five years longer than Parcells? 5 1/2 years longer than Phillips? Four years longer than McCarthy?

"Who hired Jimmy?" Please.

Overpaying Deion was a big reason the team fell apart.
Jones mismanaged the team's salary cap and Sanders' compensation was a sizable chunk but it was not the overwhelming catalyst for Johnson team's demise.

I don't think it will click. he is become addicted to the attention. he loves cameras. he loves to talk and then he says stupid stuff he is thinking about, which reveals his mind set, like coaches dead money or incentive based contract for coaches and l wanted to see what zeke can do (which was him hoping he does well enough to have the rest of Zeke Jerseys he had in inventory fly off the racks, which btw, were #21 and he never printed #15 jerseys).
