You are confusing "Business" with "Football."

Business-wise, Jerry Jones is a Hall of Famer. Bought the Cowboys for $179 million IIRC. Now worth north of $7 BILLION.

Football-wise? Well, THAT is a different story.

Jerry Jones.

Additional questions:

Who hired Barry Switzer, who barely coached Jimmy Johnson's team to another Super Bowl win?

Who hired Chan Gailey and gave him only two seasons before pink slipping him?

Who hired Dave Campo, a coach so revered by his players that they pantsed him?

Who hired Bill Parcells and proceeded to not get fully out of his way (i.e. Terrell Owens)?

Who hired a barely wet behind the ears Jason Garrett as his offensive coordinator savant before hiring his Wade Phillips as his head coach a month later?

Who kept Jason Garrett around four years longer than Johnson? Five years longer than Switzer? Seven years longer than Gailey? Six years longer than Campo (who at least had much more coaching experience before getting the gig)? Five years longer than Parcells? 5 1/2 years longer than Phillips? Four years longer than McCarthy?

"Who hired Jimmy?" Please.

Jones mismanaged the team's salary cap and Sanders' compensation was a sizable chunk but it was not the overwhelming catalyst for Johnson team's demise.
Just a part of it. Jerry started letting key players walk, that's why we fell apart.
