I always hear "We need a reciever like Irvin who was the heart and soul of the football team"

It's just laughable. Go throughout the NFL and find a reciever that has the skill AND passion that Irvin had, not to mention the competitive nature. There is none. He was just one of kind. You can even go back 5 years if you want. Find me a reciever who was the leader by voice and production. Sorry, but those guys are just obsolete these days.

If you can think of any, please let me know.

passion does not nessecarily manifest itself in the same ways accross the board. Being vocal or not matters very little.

I would say Boldin is pretty darn close.

Steve Smith? Only one I could think of that is a leader and produces.

Roy Williams :D

We can dream it at least :laugh2:

He wouldnt even be in my top 10 people like Irvin...maybe im biased because they are opposite body types and the poster asked who is most like him...

I'd say combine the personality of steve smith with the skillset of boldin and you'd be close. I can't think of anyone who has both.

I would say Boldin is a good comparison, or even better, Holt.

Meh. Boldin.Meh.

Holt? Not even close. He's a professional no doubt by Irvin like? No

considering mike compares himself to boldin and said himself Boldin is the playmaker in the NFL today I find your "meh" silly, if not predictable.

So that's half the battle. He plays like Irvin ON THE FIELD. Too bad he's a little drama queen with no leadership skills. He stormed off the field after the NFC championship and went out the back door.He was on his knees asking for a trade after he went to the SB. Ya that's the leader I want:rolleyes:

So keep Failing four. I think it's hilarious. You do it all the time.

You two are brothers from another mother

I said Holt more based on their moving the chains and possession-guy styles.

I also think, all Steeler hatred aside, Ward is very Ivrin-esque.

Hmmm ya that's pretty close. Although Ward is just a consistant WR. Never was dominant.

Jesse Holley

You sir, are wrong.

The WR most like Irvin isn't even playing football these days. That honor goes to one, Montrell Jones.

That other guy in Arizona is pretty skilled and passionate too...

Really? I don't think I've ever seen Larry Fitzgerald yell at teammates and whatnot.

The other WR in Arizona, is just good.
