I don't care for Perierra either, but I'm pretty sure he knows the rule on that situation. As I stated before, I agree that Dez had no business coming onto the field in that situation and hope he can keep his cool going forward.

For an many great things as the Cowboys have done this season, they still do some dumb things.

It is funny how fans think Bryant is the Cowboys only receiving threat. Pay too much attention to him and Williams, Beasley and Witten will eat your lunch.

I've learned when reading the boards of boorish opponent fans that it doesn't matter much. I'm sure they were quite confident all week right before their 15-1 Packers got flushed down the can by the 9-7 Giants. These kind of games never unfold the way you think they are going to. Most fans bravado would be tempered really quick if they had to wager something of value on the game.

Most Packer fans I know (and I know many) knew the 2011 team was very flawed. Some were quite open that they thought the team was fatally flawed.

They had no running game (Ryan Grant led them with 559 yards) and I believe they had the 32nd ranked defense in the league.

The Packers barely beat that Giants team earlier in the season on a last second field goal.

Basically that team had no business going 15-1 other than Rodgers going off for 45 TDs and 5 Interceptions.

Man, that board makes me want to give all y'all a hug. Even you dumb ones. :)

And I don't get the fascination with the Dez-on-the-field 'issue' at all. That stuff has no material impact on the game. So what? Sure, it's nice to get a technical bluebird like that every now and then. But it's the lining up and playing good football you should worry about. And complain about when a call doesn't go your way in that regard if you're into that sort of thing. Not the irrelevant dead-ball stuff. It's not like we gained an advantage through Dez's rhetorical efforts on our behalf.

Post #15 from a Packers Fan
Make Dez lose his cool and he'll cost his team the game.

Better ask Malcolm Jenkins if that's a good idea. I hope they do...

People seem more butt hurt about Dez running on the field with no helmet than anything else.

why shouldn't they be? our own fanbase kept doing the "pants on the ground" mantra to dez when it was never dez who had the issue. hell, far too many hated dez and all his "antics" and every time he shouted on the sidelines it seems some wadboy would come running here here whining about it and how he should be more professional.

so if another teams fan base has a dez fixation to where they can't see anything but that, it's understandable.

stupid, but understandable.

but in reading through the thread, they have some pretty good posters there too.

There was NO reason for Dez to be on the field with or without a helmet. The Cowboys were on defense at the time. Dez is an offensive player.

Why would that matter? Houston brings in JJ Watt on the offense all the time on the goal line. You could bring Dez on the field to punt if you wanted to.

I may be wrong, but I thought you only had to report to the officials to be an eligible receiver. Other than that, I don't think it matters what the position next to your name on the roster is to be on the field.

I listened to Mike Perierra speak to the issue on the radio yesterday and if I heard correctly, he said the helmet rule applied only to players that are already on the field and not to players coming off the sideline. He said that calling a penalty on players coming off the sideline is at the officials' discretion and usually only happens if the player is verbally abusive and/or refuses to leave the field when instructed to do so. I would think he knew what he was talking about. Having said that, Dez and any other players need to keep their cool and stay the hell off the field if they're not playing.

I view this as no different than a ref in basketball warning a Coach or Player that if they keep it up they can get a tech. Happens all the time in games. The ref has the discretion to warn if he/she wants to or to just issue the tech.

Same applies in this case after hearing Perierra and the former ref on Inside the NFL (Carey?) explain the rule.

Good analogy. You just won't hear any of the talking heads retract their incorrect statements. Oh well, at least they can't change the score.
