Csonka and Riggens wouldn't start in the league today. I'd bet all the 24 dollars I have left in my wallet on that right now.
I think they could.

I'll make comtemporary comparisons with both players.

Larry Czonka was Mike Alstott before Mike Alstott with better speed and more than twice (literally) the temperment.

John Riggins was easily the 'Marion the Barbarian' of Joe Gibbs' offense.

Given the team, I would take that bet in a split second.

:laugh2:

Yeah, they're my age and likely couldn't start. Riggins still looks like he can sub.

Why do you think that? I'd bet a huge sum Riggins could still start in this league and rack up nearly similiar numbers. Unless he ran at Randy White every play.

At fullback in the same capacity as Mike Alstott. Not as full-time, focal point of the offense type backs.

No rhyme, no reason. Just pure hatred. Deep, abiding, everlasting!

If you're talking coach:

Don't like the name. Never have, never will.

If you're talking player:

The day that will forever live in infamy. Curses were immediately put upon him and that team. Then the MayFlower landed. You know the rest of the story.

Good post.

I bet the younger guys (I'm too young for Riggins' prime myself) don't realize that Riggins was a 100m track star in Kansas. The films of him running over the Dolphins in the Super Bowl were when he was way past his prime and more of a plodder. But he was a heck of an athlete for a big guy.

2. George Allen

3. Joe Theismann

12. Bill Walsh

13. Lynn Swann

How has no one mentioned RANDY MOSS yet? It seems like every single time he has faced us, he gets 200 yards and 3 TDs. Maybe not so much anymore, but definitely back in the Vikings days. UGH. Not to mention he's a huge buttmunch.

Bill Walsh, Buddy Ryan and George Allen as coaches.

Terrell Owens, Lawrence Phillips, Larry Little, and....Jerry Rice. Yes sweet, adorable, hard working, all American, all around good guy Jerry Rice. There was just something about him that just pissed me off.

Jerry had a very quiet arrogance about himself and then he went out and made everyone look foolish trying to guard him. I hated that too. I suppose if I was a 9er fan it wouldn't have been an issue though. ;)

I would add Belicheat to my list. I'm convinced the guy cheated his way to three SBs.
