I don't disagree, and honestly this is probably very accurate. One of the big theories to this situation has always been that Carrol wanted to run the ball more like they did Schottys first year in Seattle, but they still had Russ slinging the ball around. My concern and why I'm taking a wait and see approach to Schotty before buying in is exactly that. He got pass happy in Seattle. In Jacksonville he had a rookie Trevor Lawrence sling it 600+ times. As OC in Dallas we struggled to stay with the run, especially early in the year.
I love the offseason talk about running the football. I love the direction he is trying to go with the coaching staff he has brought in on the offensive side of the football. I even look back at those 2018 Seattle teams and love some of the run designs they had. I like a lot about Schottenheimer and loved when they hired him initially in Dallas a couple years ago. I just struggle to think that he is going to stick to a run first philosophy based on his history, and that is something I would hope was covered extensively during the interview process.
