I wouldn't overpay for Vinatieri if I could get Longhwell for less.

Longwell - 81.6% career
Vinatieri - 81.9% career

I would overpay for Vanderjagt.
87.5% for his career and 92% last year. Can't blame the Colts meltdown on him.

On the opposite end, I will be pissssssed if we overpay for a kicker. <vinateri>

peterson has been a good one - but achilles injuries scare the heck outta me. i keep thinking about CB kevin smith. he coulda been one of the great ones but never truly recovered from his achilles tear. and he was pretty young when it occurred.

peterson doesn't have to run with WRs but how much of his game is reliant upon explosiveness?

IMO, he's the same guy in name only. damaged goods.

Adam V and Longwell can kick off, Mike Vanderjagt can't very well. Would really overpay for Bentley or Hope, due to age.

Good point. You beat me to it.

1-19- Longwell- 100% Vinatieri- 100%

20-29- Longwell- 92% Vinatieri- 96%

30-39- Longwell- 87% Vinatieri- 82%

40-49- Longwell- 71% Vinatieri- 70%

50+- Longwell- 59% Vinatieri- 47%

Longwell hasnt made the clutch FG's Vinatieri has but he really hasnt had the chances Vinatieri has. Considering the money Vinatieri wants, I would sign Longwell.

I would love Julian Peterson at the right price. He is coming off an injury and his play last year suffered. Unfortunately it's hard to tell how much of it was because of the injury and how much was because of a lack of surrounding cast. I would definately bring him in for a look-see though.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel there's nothing more tantalizing than the 1 yard field goal attempt!:D

It's impossible to attempt a 1 yard FG. And even if it were possible, it would be extremely improbable to successfully convert a 1 yard FG attempt.

Lloyd is no better than most teams #2. I cant imagine for an instant that the Commanders would seriously consider giving a #1 for him.

And comparatively do you think that Dat is/was a better player than Witherspoon ? In this case I am not so sure that size matters.

It's hard to compare them, one's an ILB, the other's an OLB... what I will say is that Dat was always one of my favorites...

I respectfully disagree, and think he would fit rather nicely and be an instant impact player on the Cowboys D. With that said I would love to see him sign elsewhere.

I can practically guarantee that the Cowboys will have no interest in Witherspoon... seems their first choice at LB would be Willie McGinest, and I have read several reports linking them to Akin Ayodele, too... I prefer the latter, because McGinest is gettin' old, and would take playing time away from DeMarcus Ware (who I consider to be a star in the making)...

There are two problems with Vanderjerk-- he's a head case, and he doesn't have a real strong leg for kickoffs (in fact, the Colts brought in a kickoff specialist to assume those duties)...

Given Parcells' obsession with the field position game, I can't see him bringing in a guy who's weak on kickoffs...

I'd overpay for Matt Schaub although I wouldn't consider it overpaying.
And he's not a free agent.

And Brandon Lloyd is a rising STAR.

Bentley is the only PLAYER I would over pay for. A real good KICKER of some name is the other. Longwell or Vini. Longwell has better stats- but Vinni has made the most pressure kicks of any kicker ever- no one else ever won 2 SB's on last minute kicks. Look at both and whichever one we can get cheaper is fine with me.

I don't get all the love for Julian Peterson. He isn't the same player he once was. A kicker like Longwell is a actually a better option for us because we don't need to pay a kicker $2.5 million IMHO. I agree with Quickdraw that Lloyd would be a great pickup. The correct answer to the original question is Bentley.

Not a good idea. He had an achilles injury and had a very average year coming back from it last year. Not too many players I can recall ever come back as strong after that. Maybe you're too young to remember Kevin Smith???

Vinatieri....the way I figure, an overpaid kicker is still going to cost a lot less than overpaid players at other positions...

And...you'll get a better return on the investment. With Vinatieri, this team was in the playoffs last year.

Nodoby.

He is either worth what you pay for him, or he not.

If he is not worth what you paid, then he's over paid...and that's not good.
