Who could been big with the right push in your opinion?

Brodus Clay - the Funkasaurus was a TERRBILE gimmick to start his career with.

DDP - in his run with WWE. Awful - he was great in WCW - Diamond cutter was the RKO of the 90's.

Hard to tell how much a guy may want it, work for it, sacrifice for it and so on.

Sam Houston was not a nobody but never made it superstar levels.

Don't know if injuries or drugs were an issue or not.

But that tall skinny kid sure worked his off.

Was at a wrestling event nd Sam gave an entertaining match and was working hard.

There must have been a few wrestlers not show up so they had two playing double duty.

Put Sam in a generic mask but you could who this lanky kid was because he had the same colorful cowboy wrestling boots. Kid had to be wore out but he put in every ounce into it and gave the crowd another entertaining show.

There was a different match and I can't remember who he really was but he wrestled earlier but this time wore a mask with an X it. His generic handle was Dr X
He came out playing the heal and trying FO rile up the crowd. Me and my buddy doing arms crossed in air like Dez as we were chanting Dr X over and over. He looked at us with a Baffled look. After the match he walked by and said Thanks for the laugh.

Easy answer would be Cesaro. Seems like he always had the crowed on his side and could put on a match but he's Character never went anywhere special.

Rusev with Rusev day was a thing for a hot minute. Should have capitalized on that

Bray Wyatt and the Fiend. He's over but I think it could be something more if pushed right

Sam's a good choice... Certainly had the bloodlines being the son of Black Jack Mulligan and the brother of Barry Windham.

couple guys i liked in wcw during the monday night war days...
•raven...didnt care for the "flock"...but i liked raven...would liked to have seen him in a feud with sting for the wcw title.

•vampiro...the run in's with sting were epic...but he didnt go any where after that.
like raven,i'd like to see him run with the title for a bit.

I'm having a difficult time thinking of wrestlers in the territory days who were held back...

Even guys who I think are under-rated to some extent like:

-Bob Roop
-Dick Slater
-Adrian Adonis

Were big in at least a couple territories, even if they weren't top-flight draws across all territories.

agreed.
the first name that entered my mind really didnt fit...the junkyard dog.
he couldnt have been more popular.
but i would love to have seen him with the nwa title in the 80s....or the big gold belt in wcw.

Yeah, I thought JYD's run in the WWF was underwhelming but there wasn't a bigger attraction in Mid South than him.

You had guys like that all over the country.

I could see JYD getting the NWA belt for a short title run like several guy did such as Tommy Rich, Dusty Rhodes, Giant Baba and Kerry Von Erich.

he was heavy weight champ for mid-south 4x i think.
and what i remember most were all the times he was part of being tag champions.

his time in the wwf made me mad as a jyd fan.
he was really just a gimmick.
never thought they really appreciated him...why not let him have the intercontinental title once.

his time in wcw was good but nothing like mid-south.
i remember those matches with flair.
he'd score some quickies in non-title bouts.
thought it might lead to him getting the big gold belt but it didnt happen.
then when ron simmons won it....i remember thinking...that shoulda been the dog.

those mid-south days were special.
i miss it more than all the others.
loser leave town matches.
coal miners glove matches.
tar and feather matches.
yellow streak matches.

as edith bunker would say...those were the days.

wcw if i remember.
epic rivalry with sting.
i remember the first time i saw him was in wccw..and when he sprayed that green mist...it was shocking.

then in wcw w/his feud with sting....he sprayed stinger and i wanted to go thru my tv.
sting was my guy back then.
in mid-south it was JYD.
in wccw it was kerry von erich.
in wcw it was Sting.
in wwf/wwe....it was 1st Macho Man....then later...The Undertaker.

Had a long career overseas, but such a short career here. Basically one year in WCCW and one year in WCW. Was great heal
