What qualities make MBIII "The Barbarian"?

Looking at Marion Barber, he isn't a guy who is going to blow by you with his great speed. He isn't a guy who's just going to lower his shoulder and knock you on your but like a Jerome Bettis. He isn't a guy who's going to make you look stupid like Barry Sanders. But I think we can all agree that Marion Barber is an exceptional back and he has alot of aspects to his game that make him The Barbarion.

I think his two greatest assests are his balance and vision. No matter if a defender gets a clean hit on him or not, he just seems to bounce off them, and like a cat somehow regain his balance and get an extra 4 or 5 yards. Added to this is his stiff arm. It makes it so tacklers cant wrap him up, but only hit him, and you cant just hit Marion Barber and make him go down. You have to wrap him him.

His vision is another thing. He see's cutback lanes very well, and is VERY good at bouncing runs to the outside. He isn't the fastest back, but it always seems that he is able to get to the corner and win the 1 on 1 battle with the linebacker or defensive back.

While he isn't the fastest, strongest, or shiftiest back in the league, he is VERY efficient at getting the job done. Sounds alot similar to another back we used to have...

He is the best RB since Walter Payton that I have seen at punishing the tacklers. You're going to bring him down or stop his progress? Okay, but be prepared to pay a price for it.

I wish I had a screen saver of 2 Barber plays this year. The run out of the endzone versus the Patriots, and from the same game, his stiff arm shots on Rodney Harrison that knocked that juicing piece of crap flat on his butt.

Few ever brought the wood like Bettis - but how many RBs have you ever seen with Bettis' combination of size and speed? I think Marion enjoys the contact like few who've ever played the position. The guy's all heart and desire to move the chains and break the planes.

I'm not all that sold on his vision but his balance is pretty darn impressive. I've lost track of the number of times he's finished a run turned facing our endzone from the contact, leaning backwards at 45 deg's, and pumping those legs for an extra 3 or 4 yards with defenders draped all over him.

When he starts to do that move... I usually hit my leg(thigh) against the tables in the sportsbar booth LMAO

My father was watching a game with me last year.. I think it was the Falcons game where he literally swatted one or two defenders out of his way while going for the endzone. The look on my father face was "how'd he do that"? as was mine LOL

rather than draft a running back, I want us to trade for Laurence Maroney and reunite that Minnesota backfield. The two of them have a very similar style, and are great receiving options. I don't think Maroney would cost too much. Maybe a 3rd round draft pick.

Barber is the Joe Frazier to the Whiners Joe Montana/Jerry Rice-Ali. . Barber is the Thomas Hearns to the pitty-pat of the Colts Bugger-Ray Leonard. The "banger" against the pretty boy. Barber is the "ANTI-" west coast offense. You know, that lie, sham and hoax on the NFL.........something about a "great offensive and brilliant scheme".

Marion Barber the Third is a lot closer the Jim Brown and Earl Campbell than he is to Franco Harris and Barry Sanders. He's a football player, not a side-show wonder boy.

Some guys, all the way from pee-wee through the pro's get brainwashed into thinking that once your designated and "offense" guy, that part of your football-***** gets taken away. It's always the defensive guys that get the "killer" and "hardass" glory. Nitchke, Lambert, Butkis, Lawrence Taylor, Tatum & Atkinson, Lott, Roy Williams, Mean Joe Green, The "Purple People Eaters", the "Fearsome Foursome", the "Doomsday Defense", the "Steel Curtain", etc, etc, etc.....................it goes on and on.
Defensive players, and defensive players ALONE alway get the "tough guy" tags and "nasty" labels.
Every once in a while, an offensive guy comes along who doesn't play that crap or fall for the label that guys who play football on offense don't get to be "mean" or "bad" or "big hitters". Lynn Swann, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, etc...........aren't amongst this crowd. MB3................IS!!! He never read the memo that only guys who play defense get to hurt people.
