Im excited to watch this Chargers and Patriots game.

I will actually get to see what creative 3-4 defenses can do.

I know a lot of you want to go back to the 4-3 but 3-4 in my opinion is a much better defense if used right.

You can just do a lot more things with it and the teams winning championships these days seem to be having great success with this defense.

Cant wait to watch the Chargers and Pats.

I would rather keep the 3-4 since we already made the transition...we just need someone who know what they are doing coaching it.

I've always been in favor of the 3-4, but you're seeing what real defenses look like...regardless of scheme. One thing I've noticed is that teams are unafraid to blitz from the edge whereas we almost never do that and if we do, we only send one blitzer from the edge instead of one from the middle and one from the edge.

Seem like Parcells is way to careful and cautious on defense. Being afraid to attack is like being afraid to get on the highway from Dallas to Chicago "bad idea"

3-4 defenses go as far as the 3-4 DE's go. You can't just expect the 3-4 DE's to take on blockers and do nothing. A big reason why the Chargers 3-4 kicks major *** is because of Olshanksky, Castillo and Williams. They themselves manage to take and beat 4 lineman leaning wide open lanes for Phillips and Merriman.

Yes and watch all of the line stunts they are allowed to do.

They will shoot gaps and do things such as that. Not just do the 1 on 1 thing and play the run every down.

If you look up the Q & A with Jim Jeffcoat that this site gave him you'll know a former coach of theirs opinion on why they haven't been to productive.

I think most of really don't care if we go 3-4 or 4-3 as long as we have someone who knows what the hell they are doing coaching us. Of course if BP is still here he will insert his .02 worth........

I'd like for the COWBOY world to see what a front 3 is supposed to look like. When you have Jamal Williams (big old monster) pushing the pile forward, then you wonder why Merriman gets so many sacks, QB can't step up too much.

Then you see V.Wilfork big 6'2 330 pd beast pushing the pile up the middle, no offense to Ferguson who had a good run stuffing year, but we need a monster that will push that pile forward consistantly.

:hammer:

Both Pats and Chargers DL are very solid groups. How sad our 3-4's backbone didn't look like those. Man I love good D but I couldn't enjoy watching my beloved team's D.:
