No, you didn't read it. And it's very clear that that is the case. Here's why -- when I replied to your post that it wasn't the only means to happiness, you acquiesced. But I was merely repeating a statement that I had already made in the post, directly after the statement you quoted.

But you didn't read it. And you didn't understand my point. So you didn't know that. You had some knee jerk reaction to a statement that you thought implied that money buys happiness. People without a lot of money often react strongly ti that statement because they think it implies they cannot be happy. Your knee jerk reaction was so strong that you failed to even take the time to realize it wasn't what I was saying at shall.

You can call it being defensive, but I call it correcting someone who obviously has trouble reading and comprehending without falling prey to their own immediate emotional reactions.

This is a response motivated by fear of being misunderstood.

Acquiesced? :laugh2: I know what was said and I know you were repeating it and I know you love to bait people. Conformation you're lonely. Big deal.

I deleted every other word from your original post as to ensure, even at a grammar school level, one would understand that what I left visible is ALL I was commenting about. Something I've heard a thousand times (which I clearly mentioned) and find pitiful. Do you seriously think I read all the jibberish you spew? Don't flattter yourself, theo. I could care less. I find stuff on bathroom stall walls more insightful. Especially if there's a phone number involved.

Theee, only thing needing correction here is the voltage level at which you're currently receiving treatment for, may not be enough. Bump it up a couple a V's.

For the life of me I cannot understand why one would have such a burning desire to defend oneself, when in fact, your name was never even mentioned. Bobby, S. could've manufactured that post and it would not have changed my comment, on that particular statement, one iota. 'Comprehend'?

Dude, go patronize yourself. Show us all what a vortex looks like.

And this on the self pleasure derived from being right/winning.

No, I think we've clearly shown that you don't read much at all, really. Hence your misunderstanding in this thread.

Well, without getting into the technical aspects off it, he used the word greed but it's not truly what he meant. Self desire, self gain. He didn't mean greed in the monetary sense.

Both of those things, were done out of self desire. Everything we do is based on that or fear. It's quite literally impossible not to. You can donate your entire life savings to a random poor person, it's still, at the core, motivated by one of those evolutionary motivators.

So are you saying everything we do it's because we either:

1) want to do it, or

2) we don't want to do it, but are scared of the repercussions of not doing it??

That's not saying anything at all really.

Now if you're saying you only do things because of fear or greed, then that's saying something... and it's bs. I do literally hundreds of menial tasks each week that I do without thinking. Not because I think it will get me something or because I'm fearful of not doing it.

How's the dyslexia treating you? You couldn't have gotten it more backwards if you took a day off and really tried.

But thanks, Dr. Laura. Preciate it.

Cash is just the means to an end -- happiness. It's not the only means to that end. It's the easiest way to get there, so that's what people use.

The only happiness that cash buys in temporary happiness. The more cash you have, the less happy *it* makes you. (though it doesn't mean you still can't be a happy person)

To be genuinely a happy person, you have to provide yourself with that happiness. This is usually by filling your life with things that make you happy. (career path/job, hobbies, people, etc) If you think it's cash that makes you happy, you've confused happiness with greed.

I had Happiness, she wasn't all that great. I'd rather have Joy. Now she's HOT. :D

Volunteering to do things, random acts of kindness, are all self motivated.

You get something out of it, whatever it may be. Happiness, feeling like a better person, moral justifications, whatever it is at the core is self motivated.

I will speak to what people want from work. According to research, in this order:

1.) exciting and challenging work
2.) opportunities for growth
3.) good people to work with
4.) fair compensation

It's true stuff. Many people think money would be number 1, and while is certainly important, it is not the number driver for employee retention and engagement.
