This is kind of a silly thread considering most of the guys that we could list aren't even a possibility.

I will say that realistically the only positions that we likely could end up with a rookie starter would be K, FB and FS, and those may be long shots. I would think at least in the early stages of the season a FS may start off as a back-up, but I could easily see someone like Nelson or Mierriweather taking over at some point.

OG is a slight possibility - Kosier is fine, and almost certainly would at least start the season in the lineup, but he could be vulnerable if we decide to draft an O-lineman with our first pick.

I don't hink we really need a guy to come in and "start", taking the best talent, as mentioned is really the key. I think the better criteria would be, who will come in and (contribute) the most.

I think there are several guys who could come in and not only contribute right away, but actually have a significant impact as well.

On offense, I think Ginn Jr. would contribute the most, due to his versatility and big play potential. He won't start but he could rotate in which would help keep T.O. & Glenn's leggs fresh. He could also have a big impact in three WR sets by stretching the D, hitting the occasional home run, as well as being used on reverses, short screens & dump off passes, as well as having a big impact in the return game.

On defense I see a guy like Merriweather having a big impact on our secondary and pass rush due to his versatility.

I also see any quality CB being called on to contribute quite a bit, whether first or second round I think a young DB with speed must be added.

I agree with Peterson, a pipe dream at this point, but you never know. If J.J. is traded I could see a guy like Kenny Irons making a solid contribution in rotation with Barber.

Possible Day 1 starters at each position:

QB - None
RB - Peterson, Lynch
FB - Leonard, McClain, Anderson
WR - CJ
TE - None (Olsen would start at 2nd TE in a 2TE formation)
LT - Thomas
RT - Staley (develop into LT)
LG - Blalock, Grubbs, Sears
RG - Blalock
C - None

NT - None
DE - Carriker, Okoye
LOLB - Anderson, Adams, Spencer
LILB - Willis
RILB - Willis
ROLB - None
CB - None
Nickel corner - Revis
SS - None
FS - Landry, Nelson, Griffin, Merriweather

LS - DeOsie
P - None
K - Crosby, Medlock
KR - Ginn, Figurs

Agree with most of this except add in REvis and Hall to both CB and nickel corner as wellas pencil in Brown at tackle.

Read the thread.....

The point is not to discover who we'll pick.

It's more of an exercise in discovering how talented our roster is.

I never said that this was to choose which players we should draft.
