Let's review his numbers again after playing the Bucs Eagles and Commodores.....

Panthers and Giants are literally 31 and 32nd against the run.

Eagles and Bucs are legit against the run but the Commodores aren't
True and following through with final 3 games has relevance...

This is every Rico Dowdle run against the Panthers. You're not going to see anything spectacular here. What you will see is a runner who makes good decisions, shows swift footwork, and attacks north and south with power. Rico was very efficient on Sunday.

*** He's a free agent
***Would you resign him? This means we are unlikely to use a high pick on RB ( 5th round max IMO)
*** How much? $4-6M or 9-10M
*** Let him walk and draft a new starter ( Jeanty )

Keep money is going to be tight according to Stephen
It's crazy how every time one of our players starts playing at a high level.......the question becomes will we keep him? Wonder if other teams go through this also.

If the Cowboys were to sign Dowdle to an extension, it wouldn’t break the bank. Devin Singletary, a similar runner production-wise to Dowdle, signed a three-year, $16.5M deal with the New York Giants last offseason. Dallas could likely lock up Dowdle with a similar type of offer only costing them $5-6M a year

he is nothing special. he is a JAG that's looking good going against some of the worst defenses in the league.

we need to draft a RB and if he comes cheap at about 2-3M a year, then he can be RB2.
he has no deep speed. no power. not very good vision.

You let Rico test free agency. I hope you all understand that the Giants/Bengals signed two backs to multi year contracts that were clearly better than Rico last offseason and neither guy is starting anymore. It’s easy to find a Rico but I will admit the kid played well the last few weeks.

I think I'd let him test the market and see what he can get. If it's a few million a year I'd match it. I like Rico but one year with prior injury concerns means I don't want to put a lot of guaranteed money into him. Besides that I still want a speed element at the position, and we'll need to draft that guy.

How they thought Zeke was even remotely as good as Rico is scary. Zeke should not even be in the league let alone robbing and wasting carries.
Zeke wasn’t brought back because they thought highly of him. They moved on from him but they passed on the top FA RBs and didn’t draft a back and Zeke was cheap. We had to cover ourselves at RB after losing Pollard. We couldn’t enter the season with Rico and Deuce. Rico has had injury issues and we needed insurance. Not many thought much of Rico who only had 361 yards and two TDs last season. Too many are living in the moment with Rico who’s looked great the past three weeks. He’s gotten better with more opportunities but he wasn’t the back last season or early this season that we’re seeing now.

You try to sign him. He's shown to be a competent back. In fact, you try to sign him soon to get him cheaper.

People are saying don't resign RBs, and that's true IF that TB has a ton of mileage on him. Dowdle does not. You can likely get him cheap for 2-3 years, pair him with a draft pick this year and as long as you put a good OL on the field, you have yourself the makings of a nice run game.

Now having said all that, we are run by idiots who will likely screw this up and let him walk because some team may give Dowdle $2MM a year and these idiots are only wanting to spend $1MM. They'll balk at his cheap cost because they want him cheaper and then sign some schlub not as good as Dowdle in like May of 2025.

I saw the game and he was excellent......now be consistent and do it for the next couple weeks to prove it wasn't just because the previous defenses were the worst in the NFL.

I'm rooting for him!

He might price himself out of our range.
I doubt he’ll do that, he’s being given a great opportunity here to be the feature back. Don’t see anyone offering him a big contract and he could end up in a less favorable situation with another team. It didn’t go so well for Murray when he left. Don’t think Rico would want to wait around too long because he’s replaceable.

Asking what to do about any specific player when we are getting ready to finish the season with 3 of the top 10 teams in the league is very questionable timing.

he is nothing special. he is a JAG
NFL RB's yards per attempt this season:

Saquon Barkley 5.9
Derrick Henry 5.8
Bucky Irving 5.6
Jahmyr Gibbs 5.6
Jordan Mason 5.2
Rico Dowdle 5.0

6th in the league isn't special? 6th in the league is a JAG?

Considering the bad play calling and historic injuries along the OL this season I'd say he is having a remarkable season. His longest run is only 27 yards (shortest of any names mentioned) which drags down his average. Dowdle works his butt off and his effort shows every week.

Those stats do not come close to telling the whole story. Teams game plan to stop Henry. That does not happen to Rico.
