I don't compare dowdle to Henry or Barkley, who are perhaps elite RBs in the league, based on YPC only.
The truth is Henry and Barley have better lines. For Dowdle to do what he did this year behind the dumpster fire Cowboys offense and constant interchangeable lineman is pretty remarkable.

We offer him a 3 year 15M guaranteed contract. If he leaves, maybe we use a 3 round pick to replace him. Next draft has to be defense heavy at the top.

I kind of want to keep him and pick another position with our first and second round picks…..starters/game changers maybe with those picks, people that can make a difference while Rico keeps running for 5YRDS a carry.

*** He's a free agent
***Would you resign him? This means we are unlikely to use a high pick on RB ( 5th round max IMO)
*** How much? $4-6M or 9-10M
*** Let him walk and draft a new starter ( Jeanty )

Keep money is going to be tight according to Stephen
It's crazy how every time one of our players starts playing at a high level.......the question becomes will we keep him? Wonder if other teams go through this also.

If the Cowboys were to sign Dowdle to an extension, it wouldn’t break the bank. Devin Singletary, a similar runner production-wise to Dowdle, signed a three-year, $16.5M deal with the New York Giants last offseason. Dallas could likely lock up Dowdle with a similar type of offer only costing them $5-6M a year

Getting a 100+ on the 31st, 32nd, and 22nd~ish ranked run defenses isn’t ‘playing at a high level’. We need a RB. Doodle isn’t it.

Why do people keep saying he only had good games vs bad rush defenses? Here are Rico's stats this year vs teams with good run defenses. Considering our Oline sucked this year, these are respectable numbers vs top rush defenses. It's hard to say how much better or worse could he have done if given more carries but many of these games, we were getting blown out, so we had to pass. He does seem to do better the more carries he gets.

Sometimes fans hear it from another poster/fan and run with it. I think we are seeing a player who is starting to understand the game. He reminds me of MBIII development........playing with a ton of confidence.

Nice back-up if you can get him on the cheap.

Not true, this is wanting pat one's self on the back for being 'so smart.' Really?

Let him walk, or at least see what his offers are, then match it, if not too high.
But Jerry will go full Pollard and pay him $10 million.

They need to clean house at RB, draft 1, or even 2, with all the picks they have. Sign a FA as well. then a few UDFA's.

He has played much better lately, but I can't trust another injury won't happen.
Then there are those that will say, fix the OL even morsel than it has been playing better lately. The RB will be fixed. I understand and agree with that to a point.
Still need a stud RB regardless.

yup.

Cheaper to draft RB1 in the first.

4Y/18M. Plus a 5th year option.

Rico is 27 soon. 4.6 40. Doesn’t have breakaway speed. very few TDs.

scrub.

Doodle is an average RB. There is no denying that. It's funny the same people who bulk at posters that point to Dak stats and dismiss it now tout Dowdle stats to prove their point.

Absolutely re-sign Rico. But, that doesn't mean you don't draft a RB as early as you can find one you like or sign a starting caliber free agent. Rico has proven to be our best back (not saying much) and a guy who can get the job done, but there is plenty of room still for improvement

Nothing like a couple of NFC East games and the Panthers to make running it back sound great.

Keep in mind the powers that be had Elliott ahead of Rico in the first few weeks. That may or may not have been the coaching staff.

Jerry thought Zeke was gonna regain 2016 status for cheap. Hysterical….until you realize how screwed we are until he is gone.

Nothing wrong with Rico if he cost less than 3million a year otherwise just draft someone on day 2 or 3, probably need to even if they keep Rico.
