It's the same logic as Dak going into year 4 of his rookie deal
make a decision now...wait and the price only goes up
God forbid he has a GREAT season and the price gets too high when we could have done it nowThey should extend him asap. Waiting only cost more. And God forbid if he gets hurt next year, then the Cowboys are stuck paying him after he is injured. A habit they need to break.
Or to see how high the market value will be set so you can TOP it!Need more leaves to fall.
The only reason to wait on a player you intend to keep is to see if they stay healthy, but even when that doesn’t happen (Gallup, Steele), they sign them anyway….and not at any discount.
At this point, what's a good contract for him (I was damn near about to make a post off this question I just asked you lol)He should be ready for this season. Problem is we do not know if that great season he had was a one off or not.
It would be cheaper to extend him now then wait; unless he stinks it up or is average.
This is where the Front Office shows if they know what they are doing or not.
Personally I sign him unless his demands are nuts.
He’s not but what salary is he gonna command? I don’t think he can really increase his salary from now until the end of the season. I think he’s looking at a 20 million dollar deal for the next 4 years regardless.I agree but Bland came back and played. I don’t think he is nearly the same level risk either of those two guys were.
Yeah nothing earth shattering, just the typical increase as the cap goes up again next year so you might save up to 10% on his deal? The big thing would be since his contract is up he would be free to negotiate with 31 other teams as well unless the Cowboys want to tie up a ton of money in the franchise tag to negotiate a LTC with him. He’s not but what salary is he gonna command? Time to use some of that selective aggression and scoop up a good one,,, then draft another!Anybody else starting to panic a little about cornerback?
A none tackling frequently injured player - makes zero sense.Diggs makes too many business decisions when it comes to making tackles ,Dallas can't afford to keep a non tackling CB.Sign Bland now and draft one and bring in a free agent ,Dallas is thin at corner back.As far as the front seven goes I like Kenneth Grant and Shemar Stewart in the 1st .
I can accept 9 or 10, but if it were 11; its time to panic!Too busy panicking about LBs, DT, RB, WR, Oline
On the positive side, I believe we're only 9 or 10 players away from contending this season
Ah.....glass half full approach!I can accept 9 or 10, but if it were 11; its time to panic!
Yeah see this is one I take a wait and saw approach on. This front office gets killed for it but with Diggs contract, injury…….i think we need to see more before we overpay.
Impossible......remember that it was the legend of Al Harris that was responsible for Blands "Big Year"God forbid he has a GREAT season and the price gets too high when we could have done it now
