What to do with DaRon Bland?

Yeah nothing earth shattering, just the typical increase as the cap goes up again next year so you might save up to 10% on his deal? The big thing would be since his contract is up he would be free to negotiate with 31 other teams as well unless the Cowboys want to tie up a ton of money in the franchise tag to negotiate a LTC with him.

The other thing I look at is how much can he salary really go down? Its one thing if he is a total liability in coverage this season, but I don't see him as that type of player. Even in the case of injury the Cowboys have shown they are not afraid to pay guys.

Well for me it’s not his salary going down….im concerned the guy may be a one year wonder.

I dont know man. The kid started showing out from his opening camp. I like the way he plays. I dont know enough about his injury recovery but if it's not a red flag I think I'd lock him down.

The warnings were there before Diggs got extended. They just chose to ignore them. I'm not certain Bland has those red flags.

As always it depends on the contract and guaranteed money.

Yeah for me I have the same concerns with Bland. I think Diggs and Bland are both solid. But I have injury concern with Diggs and with Bland I’m not sure if he’s a number one or number two corner.

Just curious as to what people think we would get in trade for him...maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder IMO. Would be a real crapshoot to get a replacement with that pick. Diggs really had no more skins on the wall than Bland and got 19m average 3 years ago. Bland isn't going to be cheap.

It takes more than one season to fully heal from their type of injuries. DB's and WR's typically struggle for a while after coming back but always seem to pick it up the next full season.

I think Bland is going to ball out this season and regain his former skill level.

Bland could get a 20-22 million a year extension if they sign him this offseason.

For that much money they could possibly bring in multiple free agents to build up depth.

Trade Bland for a 3rd: Sign D.J Reed, Asante Samuel Jr. and Stephon Gilmore. That would be around 25 million or less. 3 players for the price of one.

I am a Daron Bland fan but not at the amount of money he would want for an extension. Unless they are extending him for a 4 year 15 million type extension then it is not worth it.

- Get him an idea DC and scheme that best maximizes his skill set

- Under Zimmer, INTs were not as high priority and Zimm was conservative in that keep receivers in front of defender, then make the tackle as receiver
gets the ball...while Quinn's scheme had CBs jump passing lanes and out-bullying WRs for the INTs ... that's Bland's game.

How will be new DC Matt Eberflus scheme help ..or hurt Bland ?

This is something most dont think about, with quinn bland was good, but with zimm, not so good,
and now with eberflus, who knows.
Players performance depends alot on who is coaching them and what scheme they use.

With the new DC I have no idea how good any of the def players will be.
Jerry should have let shotty hire a new young aggressive DC, instead of a guy who some say
is conservative and bend dont break.

Impossible......remember that it was the legend of Al Harris that was responsible for Blands "Big Year"

Without Al Harris we don't stand a prayer.

No fan base overhypes a player or coach more than this one.....ironically, no fan base is more unappreciative of a player or coach more than this one

maybe he had some impact?????? So if our o-line starts to push people around, are we wrong for showing love to the OL coach
